Just wached The Last of Sheila, which was a cool movie, suggested by Gori the Grey.

Level 16 (2018)

I did let this run for fun while doing other stuff..for that purpose it was okay.
A mystery movie about some kind of girl school (or in reality prison), where they all are brainwashed and must "live clean".
They can never commit one of the 7 cardinal sins..while sleeping, following orders & being pure are praised.

And ofc we find out later why those girls are held like a zoo.
Sounds weird? Tbh not much made sense.
I liked the atmosphere and solid acting..but the story quickly lost my interest and gets repetitive.
So not something i would recommend watching in full attention mode.

Oh and what i found funny: the film also stays clean..if you want one without F words, nudity and little violence it might be something.

The Grand Budapest Hotel, 2014. SO many good actors. Jude Law, HARRY POTTER IS DEAD! eheheheheh, Wilhelm DaFoe,
Jeff Goldlum .I did not recognized F. Murray Abraham and for this I do not forgive myself. Anyhoo, it's about a hotel concierge and his clerk during the outbreak of the second world war. Good stuff.

The House that Jack Built.

Is this director stupid? 18 minutes in and this is so deeply in the trash-bin that literally no convolution would bring it back.

Man Hunter, 1986. Crime/suspense/horror drama about a serial killer known as The Tooth Fairy. Unfortunately, my two movie-watching buddies kept nonstop talking and arguing, so I missed a lot of the quiet moments, but got the general jist. Movie ends with a weird Baywatch style still -- all pastels and upbeat music after two hours of grimness. One of two movies featuring Hannibal Lecter.

Total Recall, Terminator 2, and Planet of the Apes (the original one). Lots of Arnie.

I wanted to watch another movie from the list, but it turns out all the other movies on Crave are in some trickery zone where the only version available is the French dub, with French subtitles. Anything English is paywalled behind an extra subscription, one I can't even purchase during my current 3-month free subscription.

So instead I watched a movie called Kimi. It was decent. Vaguely horror but mostly thriller. One thing that was kind of stupid about it though was that the main character masking in public (this is a movie that explicitly acknowledges COVID) was seen as a symptom as her agoraphobia, and thus when she got over her fear she also stopped masking. Je ne comprend pas.

Started watching Joker: Folie à Deux with wife this weekend. Kinda boring... :sleep:I wasn't impressed with what I managed to get through before dozing off. I wasn't expecting a Superhero movie or anything like that... I'd already seen the first Joker movie and enjoyed it very much, but still... the movie was just dull and didn't engage me.

I ended up catching up on Season 2 of Invincible instead, which was much better than Joker 2

Here's a summary of what you missed.

yeah..I have absolutely no interest in seeing Joker 2 based on what I've read, and I really enjoyed the first one.

If you like musicals it has its inexplicable merits.

Desperate Living, 1977. A friend of mine was having his 65th bday party and he really likes John Waters film for some reason, so the rest of us endured this while he laughed and laughed. A schizophrenic wife and her panicky maid who has been stealing murder the wife's husband and then run off to an outlaws camp in the woods, where a woman whose bad acting is only worsened by her teeth has proclaimed herself the Queen: the wife and maid room with a pair of women, one of which wants to be a man and is fomenting rebellion against the Queen. This is only slightly less trashy than Pink Flamingos, and that's saying something. Presumably the worst movie I will see this year.

John Waters' films are classics. He is pretty interesting too!

I've liked some of them like Crybaby and Hairspray, but this one....not so much.

Film director David Lynch dies at 78, family says

David Lynch, the American writer-filmmaker whose works include Mulholland Drive and Twin Peaks, has died aged 78.

Lynch's death was announced on his official Facebook page by his family.

"There's a big hole in the world now that he's no longer with us," the post said.

"But, as he would say, 'Keep your eye on the donut and not on the hole.' … It's a beautiful day with golden sunshine and blue skies all the way."

Lynch received three best director Oscar nominations throughout his career for his work on Blue Velvet, The Elephant Man and Mulholland Drive.

His last major project was Twin Peaks: The Return, which was broadcast in 2017, and continued the TV series that ran for two seasons in the early 1990s.

Many of his films were known for their surrealist, dreamlike quality.

Eraserhead, his first major release in 1977, was filled with dark, disturbing imagery.

"While his imagination clearly has an eye for the viscerally potent, this remains an unremarkable feat by his later standards," a BBC reviewer said of the film in 2001.

He won the prestigious Palme d'Or at the Cannes film festival for Wild at Heart in 1990.

His body of work was recognised at the Oscars in 2020 when he was given an honorary Academy Award.

Lynch revealed in August last year he was battling emphysema, a chronic lung disease, from "many years of smoking".

The director said that, despite the diagnosis, he was in "excellent shape" and would "never retire".

But his condition deteriorated within months. In a November interview with People magazine, he said he needed oxygen to walk.

Born in Missoula, Montana, Lynch first began a career in painting before switching to making short films during the 1960s.

I've seen a few of his movies... Muholland Drive and Wild at Heart, for sure.

Lemony Snicket's Series of Unfortunate Events. 2004. Still one of my very favorite films after all this time. Introduced the ladyfriend to it.

But for the movie industry, she "died" long before Lynch :(

In truth, Lara Flynn Boyle's career never really took off post-Twin Peaks.

Some probably only recognize her as the clingy ex in Wayne's World.
