I can't believe Warner brothers passed on this version originally for Whedon's version.

I believe they had to shoot half the footage of this version anew. So probably because this version never existed. Before the Internet demanded it exist, obviously.

I don't know that it was half the footage, but they certainly did have to shoot some scenes from scratch, so that's a fair point. The issue I have with the Whedon version has a lot more to do with the scenes he cut, essentially all of Cyborgs storyline and prominent role in the story, along with the entire Darkseid storyline... and the stuff he added... too much joking around and sexualizing of Gal Gadot. I mean some of the jokes in the original were mildly amusing, but did no work whatsoever for the story... "Wonder Woman is really beautiful"... ha ha, yes, we know... "Superman is stronger than The Flash"... ha ha, yes we know... "Bruce Wayne is really, rich"... ha ha, yes we know... and so on.

I have seen it and I couldn't tell you a thing that happens or a word they say, so sorry I can't be of help.

Possibly the greatest lampshade of all time:lol:, certainly in the MCU:

Best reminder I've ever heard to "lighten up... you're watching a superhero movie".:p
I have to say that i've just watched The LEGO™ movie and it's weird, I'm not even sure whether only the fourth wall got destroyed or also the fifth, sixth and so on.

So we watched parts 3 & 4 of ZS's JL and I'm going to up my previous score of 6.0 to 6.5.

Loved the back story of Cyborg & Flash, and the expanded plot with Mera even though her accent and persona were quite different from how she is in Aquaman. I thought the trilling when the Atlanteans communicated was a pretty cool effect as well. I was surprised that Lieutenant General Calvin Swanwick was officially revealed to be the Martian Manhunter. I had read that rumor since his appearance in MoS, but was not expecting it to be confirmed.

Although I enjoyed the second two parts more than the first two, I still feel like I'm not watching a coherent single movie, but parts of at least four different films. The Cyborg & Flash parts should have been part of their own solo movies instead of trying to wedge their origins into what is essentially a team-up adventure. The rest of the movie feels like it should have been in two parts, but I'm not sure how it could've been split up. As is, if you just cut it in half, the first "movie" would mostly be just set-up. Kind of like how Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows Part 1 was mostly just setup for the second movie. Not necessarily a bad thing, but ultimately unsatisfying.

It definitely should have been two movies, around two hours apiece. The best ending point for the first movie would have been when Barry says "I'm not gonna say it" and in response, Cyborg projects the image onto the top of the mother box. That would be the perfect teaser for the next movie. At that point you would have already seen the big battle with the Amazons and the big battle with Steppenwolf to save the hostages, so the movie wouldn't have been devoid of action scenes.

I've been thinking about renewing my HBO Max subscription next month, and the wildly varying reviews of the Snyder Cut have made me curious to give it a shot. I tried watching the theatrical release of Justice League at some point, and I don't think I even made it halfway. I think Snyder and I just aren't on the same page wrt these characters, his color palette, and the proper use of CGI, so I don't really expect to love it, but I am curious.

Variety, 23 March 2021 - "‘Black Widow,’ ‘Cruella’ to Debut on Disney Plus and in Theaters as Disney Shifts Dates for Seven Films"

Variety said:
“Black Widow” and “Cruella” will now premiere on Disney Plus at the same time they open in theaters. “Cruella” is arriving as scheduled on May 28, while “Black Widow” has been pushed back two months and will debut on July 9 instead of May 7. Both titles will be offered on Premier Access, which comes with a $30 rental fee.
Well, this kinda blows for me. I have no intention of paying $30 to see Black Widow at home, so this just means another 2 months wait. :shake:

first world problem
noun
: a usually minor or trivial problem or annoyance experienced by people in relatively affluent or privileged circumstances; e.g. @EgonSpengler having to wait an extra 2 months to see a Marvel movie

Variety said:
The scheduling shift for “Black Widow” means that “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings,” which was previously set for July, was bumped back to Sept. 3. It’s expected to have a traditional theatrical release.
Variety said:
Meanwhile, Pixar’s “Luca” won’t play in theaters and instead is launching exclusively on Disney Plus, for no extra fee, on June 18.
Variety said:
Despite the massive shift to streaming, Disney doesn’t plan to entirely ditch theaters. Numerous smaller titles, mostly those inherited from 20th Century, have been postponed but will bow solely on the big screen, including “Free Guy” (Aug. 13), “The King’s Man”(Dec. 22), “Deep Water” (Jan. 14, 2022) and “Death on the Nile” (Feb. 11, 2022).

apocopo Now , something ... Would say it is a cool thing Lucas didn't direct it , considering it might have shaken my conviction to be his biggest apologist . With the required apologies that ı still can't pronounce or spell the word . lnterminably long and requires some knowledge to follow . ı have a book in the basement about those PBR boats and their river patrols . Even if the book must never mentioned the film , the actions involving the boat are accurate . That they can survive ambushes , mete out considerable punishment and searches of sampans could equally go wrong in real life as well . And they were indeed engaged by bows and arrows , possibly in Cambodia as well , in the early years . Though it doesn't match the Vietnam ı "know" in places . No school with paved grounds would stay in Commie hands until like 1970s to be napalmed by Air Cavalry led by this "l love the smell of napalm in the mornings" or whatever guy because USAF would have burned down the village long ago . ı don't think USAF would also leave B-52 tails sticking up in the air , without like nuking the crash zone . No bunny team of Hefner's would be left lost in the jungle , because if escorting they would be doing it with far higher ranks and whatnot . No Frenchies , no frogs , no parachute troops with Red Berets , because A) ı know it was like adopted from a "19th Century" book or something with the events taking place in Congo and while the dinner party would be a sop to those who believed in the White Man's Burden and might otherwise burn the author on the stake and B) plantations indeed survived quite long in the First lndochina War and C) it is Cambodia and some Frenchies might have survived and tolerated by Sihanouk or others , the book on PBRs has this little passage about carefully escorting French and ships travelling to Cambodia's capital on Vietnamese riverine waterways , because the suspicion was they were dropping supplies to Viet Cong and mining the place , too . Even better but not in books was the suspicion that some French operation was underway , clearing miles and miles of river to get Seaplanes operating from Cambodia . You know , Soviets had a lot ... ı also have read that USAF sent a lot of B-52 missions to simply bomb lakes , even just after the end of the war , because supposedly North Vietnamese were hiding their supplies submerged ... lt was too late by the time boat made it to some temple like place , so ı will learn what was wrong with Marlon Brando's character next time or something ... No , frogs are frogmen as they used to be officially called so .

You could make yourself sound like a hipster and insist on calling it "Heart of Darkness."

hippie ? Where is my Eric Cartman picture in police uniform and Respect my authoritay thing ?

edit : And ı actually remember my dream from last night . Probably because my discipline or something was shaken by this Commie inspired film , ı found myself in a situation ı wasn't myself and failed to be my aggressive but only in dreams type .

It was a good adaptation of Heart of Darkness. Not that many things changed, and those which were changed worked well.
Although I can't say I liked the book much. The movie (in my view) possibly was better, due to the changes. Only the very start of the book was more interesting (business firm's interest in the exotic land), but due to making this about Vietnam you couldn't really copy that.

SNyders Justice League
And this is a completely new movie, maybe 4 hours long, but less tiring than the previous, shorter version. Villain finally has any motivation (also not crazy, but so be it). The movie is less like a music video than before, more like a movie.
CGI is definitely better, but DC still has a big problem with that.

In my opinion 6.5 / 10 compared to 3.5 / 10 for the previous version
I really appreciate playing Escape from Tarkov, although it is quite complicated for an FPS game. It is not enough to be able to aim and move well. Reflex is the most important, but you need to know what currencies are best to buy, currencies such as rubles are the most valuable. You can be Bear or USEC, you will still crave the local currency of roubles. Buying Roubles has never been easier, I buy eft roubles in online stores and marketplaces. Then I use roubloes to buy items.
If you want to buy Roubles, I recommend this marketplace https://odealo.com/games/escape-from-tarkov/roubles for buy roubles eft

I thought the book was cool. Brando really makes the wait and lore of his character pay off in the third act so well doesn’t he?

Iirc Brando had a fight with other actors (Hopper at least) because Brando was too lazy to read the book and kept improvising.
Having read the book, I can't say he was off in the role. Some stuff were made up and they moved the line "The horror, the horror" to a different scene, due to the plot having changed - but I think it was ok. I preferred some other parts of the movie, tbh :)

Saw this:

It is ok, for a horror found-footage. You can do a lot worse.

The George Lucas plan for Apocalypse now was a black and white 16mm adventure. How crazy would that have been?

Wife and I saw Deadpool 2 yesterday evening. Nice expansion on the scope of the first, just as (c)rude, and very funny.

It's both simpler and less likely than that: People just have to watch something else, and maybe talk about it. I mean, I mention a superhero movie around here and I get nine pages of conversation; I mention something else and it's crickets. Even the people who don't like superhero movies would rather talk about how much they don't like superhero movies. That's fine with me, though, I love superhero movies.
To be fair, superheroes are omnipresent. I actively prune my primary news feed of articles about superhero movies but still about a quarter of the stories I might scroll or flip through are about superhero movies. If I complain about them, it's only because I can't escape them. There are other types of movies that I don't care for either but I don't feel trapped by them.
Stargate: Perfectly acceptable popcorn flick. I liked some of the visual design for the Egyptian aliens. It was hard for me to cheer for the humans at the end though, when they blew up the alien space ship*. If the aliens were the last remnant of a dying race, then the humans basically committed genocide.
In the show, they retcon these aliens to actually be a race of parasites that steal bodily control from their human hosts. They're such a violent race that they are their own biggest threat to survival by a long shot as well.

I watched an interesting little movie last night called The Quiet Earth. A little dark and quiet, but it was pretty good.

I am about 75% sure that this next few seconds are shots from the original (Reeves) Superman movies where baby Kal-El is traveling through space. Prove me wrong :p

I keep telling people... Disney is giving out masterclasses on how to make money. They are just going to break you down... OBEY

Seriously though... balking at $30 only makes sense if going to the movies would have been less, which for me, it absolutely would not have. These $30 streaming movie releases Disney keeps doing are saving me like $70 a pop on movies for my family, so I just pay.
