Which of these two units looks more Japanese?

A simple poll to help me chose the gear for my next unit about to roll out:

WWI Japanese Infantry as seen during the siege of Kiatschou.

I recollect usually seeing the brown bootstrap footgear. I think it looks better anyways.

I voted for the white but not because it's historically accurate (i have no clue if it's accurate) but because I think it looks good, it adds a bit of variety to the colour scheme, and kinda makes it look more "unique"

I agree with Dease. Although both versions look nice, the one with the white adds more variety, and again, makes it more unique looking. So I second the white version. Although I wouldn't be able to say which is more historically acurate either.

Isn't the white standard for the Infantry unit?? If it is, I say no way to white. Go with the brown. If not, then go with it.

i would give him a larger rifle, and no helmet. Japanese didnt have helmets until after ww1. As for the color of the feet I think white. and he needs a bayonet

In fact my unit is not wearing a helmet, but a cloth cap like the one depicted in your pics. I may well add a bayonet though (on the rifle itself, not as in the last pic dangling from the soldiers' belts)

it looks like a ww1 british helmet. it shouldnt be round all the way. make the front black, and give him white cloth in the back on his neck.

take a look at what? my edit is the type of uniform worn in the russo-japanese war. but i think will work for ww1 as well, because we didnt change that much until after ww1. i would maybe give him a american civil war look alike sword, but only higher japanese would have carried it.

For starters, the blade you see in your pictures is not a sword (saber in case of the civil war) but the bayonet. I would like to make your version, however I would need the headgear in several directions.
