Which religion?

But do you really need to?

Right now you get soo darn many cities with each civic now it hard to use it and really doesnt pay, IMPO I like it better when there was 3-5 for the first civic etc etc.

If I don't want to swamp the map by the classical period then yes I do.

Exactly, i hate so many cities by then. I dont like how many the civics are now, too many cities, heck the AI is waaaay smarter now than before all the arguing was going on and all. Your lucky but by the late Industrial Era, you will be over run, more than likely.

I still can't "swamp" a map, Huge or larger by classical. And I set up the options to enable Cities to be built without restrictions. I allow the AI to be expansionists too.

@SO,
you seem to be flip-flopping, no? :confused:

Maybe Richard Scarey? (writes children's books) :lol:

I guess you also use 'unlimitted wonders' then? To me that option almost feels like cheating, especially as the total number of Wonders in the game rises.

Divine Prophets add a strategic choice: found a new religion or do something else, e.g. join as a super-specialist (usually a very bad choice) or build a shrine to an existing Religion, increase (or start) GP rate. New religion may be founded e.g. by the next Great Prophet.

As for 'unlimited wonders' - indeed, I always set this on. Recently the game became too boring and predictable, so I moved to the next difficulty level. I experiment with various settings, so maybe it would be a good idea to come back to previous level but uncheck this...

As of the NEW v33 it should be ALOT different now, you will find out that the AI is now building ships and coming across the waters now and invading, but not until after Ren Era, i believe.

The original designer felt that you should be able to change your religion as needed just like civics.

So would religion decay be a good idea? Or can multiple religions coexist if I build enough temples for each or whatever?

I have not played with religion decay so can't comment on it. The included Revolution mod is the only thing that stops multiple religions coexisting. My play style means that revolutions is not much of a problem.

I really would like to find out HOW YOU play, and what you do exactly, you seem to do the same thing, build, build, build, like I do, but i cant get ahead, even on Noble, i am always at least 10-20 techs behind, in Classical and beyond. 5 techs in ancient, 10 techs after reaching classical and then worse.

No, I mean is it possible to ensure that I can have more than one religion in a city without fear of one dying off?

Religious decay seems way overactive to me. You often (and I mean often) lose the religion from a city one turn after it spread there - even if you are building a Monastery or a Missionary! I am unable to establish (admittedly not trying too hard) my own fringe religions such as Ngaiism and Canaanism, outside their holy city. The foreign religions of Naghual, Shinto and Jainism, otoh, are spreading like wildfire...:confused:
