Which teams do you want to fail at the World Cup?

The obvious opposite thread to the "which to you want to go far" thread.

Here I would make a difference between "getting far" and "winning", hence the choice of "fail". There are several teams who I don't mind to go far, possibly up to the final, but I don't exactly want them to win.

The best example for that is France. It would be annoying if after the Brazil intermezzo they'd win it again. Someone else, please.

Then there is of course Brazil themselves.

I also wouldn't like to see Holland win the cup, although unlike many of my esteemed countrymen I wouldn't mind them getting far in the tournament.

A good example is also the US. Don't mind them reaching the semis, but please no World Cup win for a nation that doesn't even care.

And then there is England. The only ones I really want to lose every match in any way possible. :D

Which by the way is only the case since I speak English well enough to read their papers... ;)

Holland: arrogant players, not all of course. Plus some bad incidents with people from Holland on vacations etc.
Brazil, France: they have had their share for a while.
Deutschland: I don't want the host to win.

France, because as an American it is my duty to make fun of them.

Any European team in general. Compared to Asia and Africa they have so many advantages and so much going for them in terms of technology and wealth and whatnot, can't they let someone else at least have the World Cup?

By extension, that means I should think that the US should fail also. But as an American who at least cares a little I could never do that.

France is easily the most hated country on this planet. It was sure it would win the contest. ;)

As for the country I don't want particularly want to win the World Cup. England and Brazil are the two which I can think about.

I don't want any non-England non-underdog European country to win . Nor Brazil.

Brazil because they win too much.

USA for the same reason as Hitro.

I think thats it for now. Since Germany are at home I'm not going to choose them since we can just blame it on biased refs.

The best team is meant to win, not pass the trophy around to make people feel good.

Brazil and Germany. Brazil because we have enough. Germany because they are our WC eternal nemesis. ;) And last time they reached the final and played so badly (only the Germans can do that). And we have a saying here, it says : "Football is a game played by 11 players, and which ends with Germany winning." :mischief:

Brazil...and Mexico.

Brazil for the obvious reasons that they WIN ALL THE TIME and Mexico because they are an American rival, and I dont want the rival to win.

Brazil
Argentina

this one is easy:

England: as the team and fans boasting about them winning the cup is really annoying, hope they underachieve yet again. besides, I can't stand Eriksson and his darling Beckham.

Korea (and any Asian team for that matter): totally overrated due to game fixing the last time round. Hope they all sink so we don't have to face more Asian teams next time round.

Costa Rica - Their fans are barbaric savages. Their home stadium is always getting banned. I eagerly await their slaughter on Friday. :)

Trinidad & Tobago - Jack Warner's corruption. They have cheated their way into the World Cup, now I want to see them pay!!!

England- No more 1966.
Germany- for winning the cup against the Dutch in 1974.
Brazil- winning 5 times and knocking the Dutch out in 1998 semis.
Australia- for injuries they caused to Dutch squad in recent warm-up match.

US - The nation doesn't really care about the sport anyway. And their overly expressed patriotism gene just rubs me the wrong way.
Germany - Sorry Hitro, but somehow German football just doesn't attract me at all. And some nice tabloid riots about the home team could spice up the tournament.
Italy - I like offensive football, not 89 minutes of defense and 1 quick strike to win 1-0.

What are you talking about? We left Davids, Kluivert and Seedorf at home hehe. We just have perfect son-in-laws, to use a Dutch expression..

Anyway:

Brasil - big conflict here.. love the country, but they've won in too many times already..

Italy - I tipped them as possible winner, but if they are going to play as defensive as ever, they do not deserve it.

Ivory Coast - because it could mean Holland is out.

As for Germany, I don't really care. Also because I do not think they have the strength to beat Argentina in the quarter-finals for example. They'll have enough trouble with a country like Sweden even.
