Wasn't this just one of several show concepts? I also seem to recall that the pilot was filmed, but then HBO ultimately pulled the plug. At this point I think we're likelier to see Winds of Winter than any new show. :mischief:

I think the Targaryen invasion story would be lame anyway, and the main events are already known.
Robert's rebellion wouldn't be filmed - they'd need actors who look like those in GoT, and the same goes for the Greyjoy revolt.
I don't think a series about Targaryen wars in Essos or Westeros would do well, after the way GoT ended, yes.

I started the first season and loved it but at the time I was dealing with serious anxiety and paranoia and the show was too much for me so I stopped.

My brother bought me an Apple TV that I didn't really want and as such it took me months to set it up. I was also off-put by how terribad the remote is on a friends old-model Apple TV. Well I finally got around to setting it up and the new-style remote is actually pretty awesome. It came with a subscription to Apple TV+ which is kind of useless but hey, it's free for a year so whatever. Though it is totally unsurprising that their TV shows are almost iPhone advertisements as much as real shows.

We're watching the show Trying about a couple trying to have a baby which is on the service and which is pretty OK.

@hobbsyoyo - I'd recommend See with Jason Momoa, if you haven't watched it already. Amazing Stories based on the old '80's show was kind of interesting as well. Other than that there wasn't much we were terribly interested in, although there's been some work on an upcoming Foundation show based on Asimov's novels, which has my family pretty excited.

Seasons 1, 2, and 3 were really good. Half of season 4 was alright. I made it the rest of season 4 and the first half of season 5 before deciding the show had become terrible. I can't believe they tried to make Robin and Barney happen. What a horrifying pair.

I skipped ahead to the finale. Couldn't finish that either. Terrible. And I see they forced Robin and Barney to happen again? Lmao. No.

Can't believe this show lasted 9 seasons.

Came back to the finale, just to know.

It got so much worse. I can't imagine how fans must have felt with this finale after following along for years and years. I binged the first five seasons in a little over a week because of being trapped in bed and then skipped to the end, and I still feel mocked. Amazing.

I thought it was great up until season 7 when the quality started to sink. I'm of the opinion that no show should go past 7 seasons, anything past that is just milking it for ratings (lookin' at you Modern Family).
Yeah that last season was a HUGE disappointment, but what are you going to do. :dunno: After years of sunk cost, you kind of just have to watch it 'cause you want to know how it ends. Maybe that's a fallacious justification, but w/e. :undecide:

I got really frustrated with the blue-balling over Ted meeting "their mother," like when he met Cindy. Ted would be all, "Your mother and I were at this party!" but then never show anything, and knowing that the show goes on for so long and it's already doing that... it basically guaranteed that every single season would be rife with it, and I just do not have the patience for dealing with that. Also, the whole thing with Robin and Barney just doesn't make sense. The only way they could remotely make it make sense was by character assassinating Robin, and even then, it's a biiiiig stretch. Fundamentally doesn't work for me. By the 4th season, also, they started having plots that couldn't happen or wouldn't make sense based on previous episodes. And if they weren't doing that, they were just recycling earlier stories entirely.

Those were exactly the number of seasons for each of Star Trek: The Next Generation and Deep Space Nine, and those were classic series I used to watch new episode releases of in Secondary School, College, and early post-educational life.

I am not particularly fond of tv shows, as a medium. I think apart from GoT the only other show which I - maybe, probably not all seasons - watched would be L&O SVU. Not because I found it to be particularly interesting - just force of habbit.
I also watched a few seasons of House, but not all - at least two missing. Can't say it was a good use of my time.

I still don't know who the mother is because I got bored with the convoluted plots, flanderisation and repeated hijinx in earlier seasons.

Actually I think I stumbled onto her identity while browsing TVTropes, but since I was already detached from the show I didn't even register anything beyond it not being anybody from the main group.

The identity of the Mother was a complete misdirect. It was never really that important in the end.
    Spoiler :
The entire story of "how" Ted met her was just a pretense for Future Ted to ask his children if it was alright to start dating Robin after the Mother died.

Seriously? They went that lame? And as a retcon? It's just good that I stopped watching, then.

The Rookie's Season 2 is finally upon us. Its local redistributors actually bungled the advertising so I mised S2E1, but here we go anyway. E3 is out next Cathursday.

Up to season 2 of Highlander the 90s TV show.

It's not terrible, kinda bad but still fun.

How I met your mother terrible ending/last few seasons. Skipped most of the final season and watched the last episode.

I started watching Sea Patrol, an Australian show about a navy patrol boat. It seems familiar. I think I may have watched some of it before. It's not bad, if you're into lightweight, episodic crime-drama, and provided you like Aussie accents. The ~25-person patrol boat that is the center of the show performs what Americans would recognize as Coast Guard duties: Maritime rescue & law enforcement, border patrol, smuggling interdiction. I'm surprised there's never been a Coast Guard show on US television, come to think of it. It seems like it would be a no-brainer. 1 part police, 1 part fire-rescue, a dash of military action, and a pinch of medical drama; add a remarkably diverse cast of young, attractive people and a smart soundtrack, and that's almost the quintessential American, hour-long, network prime-time show, in one neat package (if you could you figure out some way to add a bit of legal courtroom drama to a show about the Coast Guard, then you'd have everything).

    It does get better.

One thing I noticed when I watched through Highlander: The Series again is that many minor guest actors would later go on to star in Stargate SG-1.

I had watched two really gritty and dark, with really nasty material, British police forensic specialist shows, both taking place in the Greater Manchester Area (I get the feeling they were rival running shows on British television in new release, which was back in the '90's), called "Prime Suspect," and, "Cracker," (the latter has as the actor for the lead character Robbie Coltraine, who famously played Hagred in the Harry Potter movies and the police escort and "bully boy," to Johnny Depp's character in "From Hell,"). They had some really, really twisted criminals they were dealing with.
