Which word or name makes you repulses you most?

For me it is collateral damage. I hate the way in a war someone misidentifies a target kills tons of people and call it collateral damage. There was a time before the Iraq war when on the chance that Saddam was there in a hotel a missile was fired at a hotel and killed 100+ people. I wouldn't have supported it even if Saddam was actually there. Keeping civilians in the line of fire to minimize your body count is something I hate. Then there is the drone killings which kills many civilians to assassinate 1or 2 militants.

I wish there was more worth for a human life.I would rather let one extremist/criminal escape than kill 1 civilian die needlessly. Even if the escaped criminal can potentially cause more causalities. That's the price we have to pay for freedom.

This is not a US bashing/country bashing thread. So rant on.

Edit: Since I forgot to add collateral damage, I'll vote for war which is almost equivalent of rest of them combined together.

That was the first option in my brain ,thought I should include more common words/ideologies before adding that. Got carries away with thinking words and forgot

The poll is limited to 25 options and I added as many as struck my mind. If you have any other option feel free to add your own.

Well feel free to elaborate on it. I was constrained by 25 options in poll. You can vote the next closest option if you like .

You added two "joke" options, but couldn't add a "gun control" option to balance out your "gun rights" option?

I'm from Asia and gun rights is not a big issue here. I can see how certainly it is a more prominent issue in the US. As I said feel free to rant about it . I kept 2 joke options as I forgot some things including adding my choice "collateral damage" or an other option.

I did not express that properly. My meaning was more like which word evokes the most negative imagery in your mind. Maybe you could reply for that?

Anybody who is more repulsed by a political ideology than RAPE or MURDER needs to get out of the house more.

    Well, there is libertarianism.

Hard to answer this poll. There is many options that revulse me not because they are really "worse" than others, but because they are "acceptable" but implies revolting things, or because they are simply more irritating.

I still voted communism because those other horrible atrocities are far more likely to happen on a mass scale under communist governments. How many people did Pol Pot have murdered? How many massacres occur at the hands of communist rebels in third world countries? No, communism by far has led to more despair in the world than anything else on that list.

I should have given it a separate option seeing how many people have strong views against it . I just didn't remember it when I made the poll. I guess you can post it under murder if you feel it is equivalent

There are a lot. "Colonize" and "settle" just sound... wrong or something, and they have connotations of invasion, greed, forced displacement, and so on. So does "pacify", which is usually used to mean "to brutally kill and oppress until people are too dead or terrified to resist"-- and "subjugate" and "subdue" are pretty similar. "Evangelical", and "Scientology" also disturb me, along with most religious vocabulary, especially shepherding metaphors. And when I hear the vocabulary of literary analysis, I switch the safety off on my Browning.

And then there's "banquet". Ye gods, I hate that one! It sounds snobbish, stuffy, very smug, and decadently fattening.

Me either. But the second quote in my sig seems relevant. It is not the words themselves which provide any reason to be repulsed. It is how they are used.

Are you sure you don't have that confused with Fox News? You have been paying attention to one of the recent "scandals", right?
