While We Wait: Boredom Strikes Back

Nothing better than fresh raspberries :D

I have never been bothered by NWAG. But then, I suppose I've never really minded anyone doing anything in my games. It's inactivity that's more troubling.

Also, can anyone list off important dates in pre-Columbian Americas and precolonial Africa? That question should probably go in a more serious thread, so if you have a big(ish) reply, feel free to repost somewhere else.

@lord_joakhim, your right I should've posted my 'status updates' in my NES thread, I guess I just assume everyone looks at WWW

2- Because being a mod implies a commitment to update- if they want to stop, they should formally bring the NES to an end.

@NWAG you're going to beat yourself to death with this, and this is the last time I'll talk about it. Sure its a nice idea to update regularly, im sure every mod would like to do that. But things happen, people are unable to update, too disorganized, or yes too lazy... Its not a deliberate intention to delay. If I actually don't want to continue ever, then I will formally bring the NES to an end, I think I have a pretty good record on that point.

edit: I approve of raspberries.

@NWAG: Please, find me one example where a mod updated because you nagged him, i'll find you a hundred times you have pissed everyone off.
Is that really worth it?
I am 100% certain you cannot even find that 1 time, because it does not exist.

Exhibit A- CK-NES. Perhaps Masada can remind you about it?

Please, just PM/VM the moderator, do NOT bump the thread.

Which would cut my already meagre chances of sucess by about half.

It isn't- but much as I highly approve of your modding style, an NES does imply a commitment to update.

A player isn't commiting to play by joining an NES briefly, as evidenced by the fact he he doesn't disappoint the other players by dropping out. Moreover, players who play major powers and in crowded games are actually using up a potentially desirable slot for new players.

CK-NES? Linky?

Also, Masada, do you agree?

How is baiting moderators in private less successful that baiting them in public? An as said already, this way you can nudge them to update, but you are doing it politely and without annoying everyone else. Do you even realise why it irritates everyone?

:crazyeye: I don't understand a sentence of that, care to take another stab at it?

Thlayli was laughing because you are known ahead of all others, as the least reliable NESer going, yet DEMAND reliability from everyone else. Smell the hypocrisy much?

A player nagging me about updating has never caused me to work harder. Asking if the update is done, to me, is stupid. Obviously, it's not. I've never finished an update, and sat on it for the lulz. Wanting to edit, and review the update is one thing, but having it completely done, and not posting it for no reason.. I mean.. what? When it's done, it's done. Pestering the modder about it serves no purpose, other then to frustrate them, and get the other players hopes up that the update has actually been posted.

And calling a mod lazy is a bit much. I'm an awful mod. But I do put a lot of time into a game that I can't actually play. I just sort of sit back, and admire. It's not like one has to run a game.

They often have ex-junkies give advice to junkies, easier for them to relate.

In this case, though, it's like a dealer appointing himself chairman at the local AA meeting.

No that would be thlayi or another moderator, I dont believe NWAG has moderated and being a moderator has more in common with a dealer, killing (or procrastinating) a nes affects more people. While dropping out alot has more in common with a junkie

1- Also, as I have explained I don't see why players should have a commitment to an NES in the first place. Evidently my argument for why is too complicated, at least for Abbadon.
2- Baiting them in public puts public pressure on them. A moderator can simply ignore my PMs much more easily.
3- I did say it was about a one in a hundred bet- it rarely works, but it's better than nothing.

Oruc:

All those arguments are silly because the original metaphor marks NESing as a drug activity. NESing is a positive constructive activity while drugdealing isn't.

I have no idea if you are trying to mark mods as bad guys or something, your last post makes no sense to me.

You had to follow the conversation.

Slovenger was saying that NWAG should not demand reliability, because his own reliability is questionable.
I disagreed and gave the example of an ex-junkie giving advice to a junkie, they can draw from experience and relate to the others troubles.
Shadowbound followed my example but implied NWAG was a dealer. But that is wrong NWAG dropping in and out of a nes has a minimal effect on the nes and others. While a moderator being slow or killing a nes effects a larger group of people, therefore the moderator matches up more closely with the dealer.
NWAG actions are more of a sympton then a cause really.

NWAG is unreliable, and is as bad as a junkie for the community? I don't think I'm quite following you.

@NWAG ~ I understand the words you are saying, its that that fail to have any logic behind them. All the evidence points to the fact your harassment of moderators doesn't help, EVER.

No he has a history of being unreliable and can give advice to unreliable people from a position of authority and knowledge having been through all that. I didnt say it was perfect, it was only a passing comparison I didnt expect to do a ploughing thesis in the damn thing
