You only get to pick ONE (1) Team!
:yup:

No saying lame things to try and pick both teams so you can claim "See I was right!" or "We won!" or "I'm happy with the result" regardless of who wins... that's lame ... By all means explain/defend your pick but don't hedge, because that's lame

Lame things people say for the Super Bowl (to try to justify picking both teams):

1. I WANT Team X to win but I THINK Team Y will win = Lame

2. I HAVE TO cheer for Team X (because my cousin, best friend etc is affiliated, or I have some other "connection" to the team) but I also WANT TO see Team Y win because (I'm from the town, or near it or have some other "connection" to the team) = Lame

3. I THINK Team X is the better team and SHOULD win but I'm PULLING FOR Team Y (because "I think XYZ player is a really good person" or "I hate so and so" or "Player XYZ is my favourite at so-and-so position" or some other reason/connection (see #1 and #2) = Lame
4. I'm not a fan of either team so I don't care who wins... but if I have to pick I'd say (see #1,2 or 3) = Lame

Just pick ONE team

I picked Tampa Bay although the only reservation I have is Antonio Brown being doubtful. To be clear, I'm still taking them even if he's out. I would just feel more comfortable if he's there. I don't think the Kansas City defense can stop Tampa Bay's offense, and on the other side of the ball, Tampa Bay's defense is absolutely loaded. I think they are going to create a lot of turnovers and winning the turnover battle will be key to the victory of the Bucs. This Kansas City team is built nothing like the teams that have beat Brady in the past. Their defensive line isn't nearly good enough to make Brady uncomfortable for the most part or force him into making mistakes other than on rare occasions. With Eric Fisher out the stacked Buc defense will wreak havoc to Mahomes and cause all kinds of problems. It might not be a blowout, but I'm not betting against Tom Brady when he's surrounded with these kinds of weapons on both sides of the ball on a home game. Nothing in history suggests that is a game he is most likely to lose. As to him being old? The numbers he's put up this year are incredible. Those numbers matter more for football purposes than his age.

edit: no offense at @Sommerswerd but it's kind of boring you opened this thread yourself and then won't elaborate as to why you are taking the team you did.

You summed it up. I'm not betting against Brady. The Chiefs won last year and repeating as champs is a tall order. I'm also expecting the Bucs to be more relaxed as the underdogs with nothing to prove. The pressure is all on KC.

Also, the Chiefs beat the 49ers last year so I'd like to see a red team in gold helmets get some revenge. ;)

I agree except for "nothing to prove". Surely, the only team in NFL history to have the home field advantage in the Super Bowl would have at least something to prove?

Meh, ordinarily maybe, but with covid the stadium is going to be only sparsely populated. So the homefield advantage factor just isn't as much of a factor. The odds makers are putting them as underdogs, so they clearly agree. Plus Superbowl tickets are so expensive and are purchased so far in advance I'd expect that the homefield advantage factor is even more diluted.

However, since we're going to see a team playing the Superbowl essentially as a home game, it will be interesting to see the impact, if any that it has. I'm guessing the impact will be negligible. But I certainly don't think it puts any pressure on the Bucs. If anything it will be the opposite.

Fair. Keep in mind, though, Vegas gives the Chargers home field advantage adjustments even though the stands are almost always filled with the enemy's supporters. Maybe lack of having to travel, comfort/familiarization with one's own stadium still makes a difference.

Well I think the Bucs will win mostly because

1) the Bucs offense is functionally unstoppable (particularly now, Antonio Brown is back and was listed as a full participant in practice) and 2) I think the Bucs defense is much better at creating turnovers which will be a decisive factor.

Was the safety Honey Badger? IDK if Jamal Adams was the leading tackler on the seahawks but if he was, that isn't something to be ashamed of.

The Chiefs getting in the news because they were all getting haircuts is an eyebrow raiser for me. Sounds like they are focused on the wrong thing, ie looking good, rather than the game.

If the barber hadn't tested positive and been pulled just as he finished a haircut it probably wouldn't have been a story.

since it isn't a poll option, I am casting a write in vote for CBS.

In case it's not too late to say, the Chiefs are going to win.

And EVERYONE was wrong! The refs won!
