Hitler killed, Jews, but also Gypsies, intellectuals, journalists, and others. Anyone have a source for the lists of groups of people the dictators like Lenin, Stalin, Mao, and Hitler killed?

That would be quite wide list.

Most dictators of course wiped out first those who could be expected to oppose them, but there were also lots of random choices (Stalins purges, example) of those who were basically 'innocent' but slaughtered or sent to gulags just to spread fear and terror. He also purged the Red Army quite totally etc.

Intellectuals (basically those with any kind of education) had it with Pol Pot, and they were popular targets for other dictators as well - Stalin and Gulags for citizens of satellite states comes to mind (Estonia etc.)

Mao probably killed mostly peasants in numbers due to failed policies, intellectuals were again 'favored' during cultural revolution and so (there was no real teaching in China for about decade after it ..).

This all is just a scratch on surface of course .. i recently read about Lenin, i guess he preferred to political opponents but as brutal mass murdering dictator he was still just a trainee compared to others you mentioned.

How about list of those who did not get killed.. hmmm, that's gonna be lot shorter one.

<No one cares, but...>

"WHOM did the Dictators Kill?"

</Sorry>

Let's consider Pol Pot. He came to power in 1975. During the four years that were to pass, the government's policies caused the death of around one third of the population, 3 million people, either from starvation, overwork, disease, or murder. The Khmer Rouge targeted Buddhist monks, Western-educated intellectuals, educated people in general, people who had contact with Western countries or with Vietnam, people who appeared to be intellectuals (for example, individuals with glasses), the crippled and mentally deficient, and ethnic minorities like ethnic Chinese, Laotians and Vietnamese.

Pol Pot tried to kill everyone but himself. He was the Red Skull of the real world.

Not to mention married couples and people who spoke french (but I guess the latter is covered by people who appeared to be intellectuals).

Pol Pot was indeed a peculiar fellow.

Most of the dictators didn't kill anyone. They had people to kill for them.
