One other thing I noticed about the AI Archos that makes them harder to deal with than other civs with the Barbarian trait is that they seem to stay at peace with the barbarians a long time. I've seen them actually join the barbs in attacking.

The Clan and Charadon for some reason always seem to go to war with the barbs early negating their trait.

Varn Gosam is the Isabella of FFH2, having a different religion from him means he's going to be a huge pain in the ass.

Varn always seems to be very weak on all the games I play. Maybe it's just the creation mapscript or something, but he never gets much further than his starting area, and is usually vassalised very quickly.

That would be because he starts in an area thats mostly or complete Desert, and Desert sucks.

right now, sandalphon. now i know that some leaders can go from friendly to war at the drop of a hat, but: attitude +24 and friendly throughout the game. highest negative has been -4 for close borders and vassal (perpentach). he has now declared war on me twice while *still* friendly. the first time i was already embroiled in battle with the infernals, but now i can concentrate solely on him

Dovello: you're friendly towards them but they cast their worldspell and take out your workers IN THE EARLY GAME. You don't LEASH your irish wolfhounds and st .bernards? You UNleash them instead?!

Flauros. Declares war on me for no apparent reason, only to "rush" me with a few unpromoted bloodpets who get bashed by my iron weapon swordsmen.

I've been over-run by him before in games on regular map-types, but on creation he is one of the worst that I've seen, other than quirky randoms with Unrestricted leaders like hyborem. (poor guy .)

Varn is crippled on the creation script. It places him in the biggest desert it can find, and of course the Malakim, while they belong there flavor-wise, don't do any better than anyone else. The dwarves are injured (not quite crippled) the same way, since they get placed in valleys that are mostly hills, and can't grow their cities.
