At first I thought of my eternal nemesis Montezuma. But then I remembered Isabella. When I think the game is going great, she gets pissed off when I don't convert to Buddhism, and conquers my whole kingdom.[pissed]

So, who do you think is the most dangerous leader?

I got kicked twice by that ottoman guy, suryaman or something.
He's pretty aggressive and he looks so friendly so i wasn't prepared.

Hannibal is the only civ I have ever seen win a domination victory. This was an emperor pangaea OCC game. I can assure you he wouldn't have managed it if i had a full empire. I'm also pretty sure the AI just can't win domination on anything but a pangaea map. I've never seen a civ wage a successful cross-ocean war.

But then other times i've seen him get stuck with a tiny empire many times.

I think Catherine is the most reliably successful warmonger. I've never seen her not have a huge empire when she's on another continent. Imperialistic and creative are the 2 best traits when you're trying to rex and don't give a damn about your economy.

Whoever you're not paying attention to.

Monty gets my full cutlery-a-glintin' attention in any game he turns up in, mind you......

    Shaka / Caesar for military
    Isabella for religious alliance enemies

The civ that you're not prepared for is the most dangerous.

A find that the leaders that give me the most trouble aren't the typical warmongers. I expect the warmongers to attack me so it's hardly any surprise... and while they may occasionally have more units, I'm usually quite a bit more advanced.

The troubling leaders are the unpredictable ones. They're pretty good at teching and tend to play smarter. And because they're not always at odds with you, they can be easier to forget about. Examples are: Hannible, Gilgamesh, Joao, etc...

^^^ I'd add Mansa Musa to that list. Unless you're extra Friendly with him. I'm 50/50 with being friendly with Mansa.

I had a lot of trouble with Genghis Khan in a recent game. Not only was he on a worldwide warpath (and doing quite well) but he was also somehow leading in technology.

Zara Yaqob seems to be a major pain when it comes to landgrabbing. He seems to place cities in every crack he can find.

Yeah, I really hate not being next to him at the start. If I start next to Zara, you can be sure I'll axe rush him before he even knows what copper is. If he's allowed to develop his usual massive empire, he tends to be a strong techer too.

I'm sure there's quite a few leaders we could add to the list. I just wrote the first couple that popped into my head.
