Anyone like to play this Civ?
Me... they offer that good training for my troops :-D
mb2: a space oddity is a good example of Arabia winning despite the odds.
I may be prejudiced as I was one of the players
I don't mind them on huge maps. The 3 MP UU can get where it needs to be faster. Expansionist is good enough up to monarch level, might not work out too well above that. Religious lets you try out the different gov'ts.
I'm playing as them at the moment. The Ansar is a solid UU, and their traits are both good. They're not a civ that I'd play very often, but they're certainly not weak by any standard.
I agree there not a bad civ in fact I have a game as them right now.
I like them.
those Ansar warriors rule!
UU is really good. Traits ok -- not a big fan of expansionist. Also, if you're able to build the Colossus, you risk triggering a waaaaaay too early GA.
I played them one game, I liked them. I might do it again.
I like them. The convenient thing is as soon as expansionist trait gets less useful (ergo out of the ancient age) their UU unigue turns up at just the right time ( get a GA) to build expensive Universities, Cathedrals, and possably banks along with several great wonders as well.
The UU is definatly above average as well
Arabia always seems to get very strong in my games, I may have to try them.
(Might change that pink before I do..... )
Yeah, the pink is annoying. I'm playing Inca's right now, and they're pink. :sigh: need to change that.
After you play pink a few times it just becomes another color.
Same think for that puke-green the Celts use.
The traits aren't my faves, but the Ansar Warrior is a killer UU.
I haven't played them much. Can't see much wrong with their traits -- seems some people really like Expansionist on some maps, and I know I like Religious every now and then.
In my C3C trait mod they're Religious and Militaristic -- maybe I should test that out sometime... but I've got to finish my current mod test game as the Religious Agricultural Celts.
Check out PAD1 Regent Team in the SG forum. (probably on page 4 or so -- it's an old PTW game). Arabia got a free settler, and with some luck (barbs harrassing the Scandinavians), we were able to control 1/2 the map rather quickly, and even culture flipping a city next to Rome with a 0-culture city! (thereby, taking their only iron, and the game was won easily).
The Ansar is an amazing UU - it costs only 60 shields and has a move of 3. Used correctly the reduction in defense barely affects you, and the 10 shields save per unit easily make up for it.
In my game, the Arabs are pink, and so are the Chinese - and if they aren't exactly the same shade of pink, then I for one can't tell the difference. Good thing they don't share a border. I thought that the "Primary/Alternate Civ Colors" thing in the editor was supposed to prevent this...
Well, I haven't played them yet because I am not particurily fond of the Expansionist Trait. I do like playing Religious Civs, I shall have to try them someday . . .
