Who wants to be a #1?

25th of july update
14 down, we're set at
113 empty spots
17 religious
19 space colony
77 vanilla

the fact that I stayed up to date didn't help. many of my fillers were beaten
Then again, it probably means there are better players out there :goodjob:

I don't post the excel file, denniz' new index table is a lot easier to read IMHO

In between updates :
- small quick deity domination
- standard quick deity domination
still 111 to go ;)

gauntlet : Religious / Warlord / Large / Epic has been done for the gauntlet so it's only 110, but I liked the "invasion of the 1" concept
("1" is prononced pretty close to "hun" in french).

Gonna tackle duel, epic, prince, space colony.

update: got the victory! Though, my finish date is rubbish. One down.

10th of august update

I'm desperately trying to complete a huge settler time victory , and it takes ages (totally out of topic, but I checked misotu's marathon huge settler victory, it was over 64 hours!), so I'm a bit out of business for #1s. Hopefully some of you guys are going for the hard work.

Don't worry cabert - I'm horribly slow on time victories. I've tried to speed up, but it doesn't work :( I'm sure you'll complete it a lot faster!

I'm not going for marathon for a start ;)
But I just had a crash. in 1901 AD. Last time game got rejected.
And I've had 2 games that I had to dismiss because I had a weird asset issue.
I'm starting to think I'll simply never make it.

It's not ideally played but BtS >> vanilla for time games. corps food is just making comparison impossible. So I'm very confident about the final score being better than hindi's.
As I said I checked (not the save, because it's an old version) your game, and saw you started the future techs in 1382 AD. I however thought you couldn't get 1 future tech every turn from the scratch. Maybe after 100 more turns you could, making your total marathon score out of reach in a non marathon game, since you would have more future techs than I have turns to play total:crazyeye:. So on normal speed, I'm targetting something between 8240 and 13936 points.
My rejected trial was on quick and I got 7700+ points. So it's very much doable.

I couldn't build all the wonders, because some oversea AIs founded 2 of the early religions. I also missed the hagia sophia (forgot to build it before it obsoleted) and can't build west point because I dumbly settled the great generals I had, instead of bringing 1 guy to the limit I needed. I also forgot to build privateers while I could. It would be a nice way to get the xps. So I'm almost condemned to risk to trip on domination by going overseas to captured those wonders. Hopefully charlemagne will build the shrine for me soon, since I'm running full scientists all over the place and probably won't get a priest.
I was thinking I could declare on turn 490, capture those shiny things and let the game finish before the cities goes out of revolt, thus not getting a 2049 domination victory.
I'm going to let my computer cool down before loading the autosave. If it crashes again, I'll dump it definitely (I mean huge settler time).

Good luck cabert :goodjob: You're right, BTS wipes the floor with V/W so you are in with a very good shot there ... if you can get your PC to behave :( I have had a time game accepted with a crash, if you are careful about pre- and post-saves it should be ok. It is difficult though if you get crash problems ...

of course I forgot to manually save at the point where it crashed.
I have the autosave of the end of turn, I hope the game passes...
1 crash in 350 turns is not that bad.
I'm at future tech 131, a bit over 54% of the land, missing 5 wonders.
I'm too afraid of passing the 56% limit, so I probably will leave my neighbours in peace.
They give me all their corn and wheat after all .

Yes, don't worry about land, it doesn't count for much. Tech and pop is the thing. I am keeping my fingers crossed for you ... the trouble when time games crash is that it's hard to remember what you did, because generally there's not that much happening other than maintenance stuff :(

I was 8 turns away from victory and was still at 54.54% land and thought I could go for those shiny wonders.
I declared on charlie, took aachen straight away, 11 turns of revolt, exactly what I needed.
declared on augustus and asoka, landed troops and guess what.
My second crash was there just after I pressed enter.
With only 8 turns to go, I can finish this, but a crash in the middle of a war was exactly what got my last game rejected...

Ugh, crashes on a Time game, a nightmare. I do a couple of things to prevent crashes, you probably do too, but for others thought I would list them.

1. I never play in windowed mode and never alt tab out to other programs. Or rather I do those things only if a crash won't cause a major problem. I don't have any other programs running in the background.

2. I try to remember, if I am having a long session, not to play for more than an hour or so without saving the game, quiting Civ completely, and restarting. Need to take a break every hour or so anyway, to keep fresh.

3. If I've been doing any regeneration of the starting map, after I've decided on one, I save it with a special name, and quit and restart Civ.

Anyway, I filled out a spot for you, Space Colony, Prince, Duel, Normal. I'm "cheating", learning how to use Era starts other than Ancient, which I never played with before, but then I guess I'm not the only one doing that. Going to try to move up the difficulty and fill in some more Duel, Space Colony spots. For some reason it seems Tiny maps are more popular than Duel's. I wonder why . Anyway, those duel maps will be a nice break from the Huge Time game I'll be doing for the Major.

it's #2 I should have done, obviously
The game was rejected, and I'm not going to try again.
I think I'll leave my HoF record where it is for a while.

One more taken care of. Did a little more work, Modern instead of Future start. Now back to the Major.

I see some people did a good job in those months, but I wonder why noone (except wastintime) goes for the deity time victories
