In a competition in the olympics who do you think will win? Ancient greek olympic atheletes or modern atheletes? Assume they compete in events that exist in both times.

Modern ones. Too much of a technical/support advantage.

I heard the old Olympians competed in the nude. :ack:

And yes , the ancient Greeks competed nude . I cannot explain you why , it's a long post . Let's say they loved their bodies ...
Modern. Aren't modern people taller than ancient? That should give an advantage in many competitions. Legal items (vitamins, fortified foods) and balanced diets would also give modern athletes an edge.

I can see how those who compete in the nude would get the support of fans. Has NBC suggested a return to the "traditional" state to boost ratings? Suddenly rhythmic gymnastics would have a HUGE following. :mischief:

Modern ones, although there were some people in ancient Greece so strong, that modern athletes with steroids would have a hard time to beat them(if at all). Just imagine those athletes if they got "help" what they'd do.

btw: who of today's modern athletes would have the stamina to run 100m(or more) with full arm(shield, weapon, helmet), as they did for "fun - but seriously".

I think the old Olympian style ladies beach volleyball would be a better spectacle.

Totally agree :) However, as a purist / stickler / pedant / wet blanket /whatever, I must point out that the old Olympian style never involved female athletes in any way, shape or form.... So

Speaking personally, I'm glad that modern male athletes keep themselves covered up.....

The old athletes might have been as strong as the athletes of the first modern olympics 1896 in Athens. The results should be available and comparable.
Current athletes are saturated with drugs and thus much stronger. :)

People are bigger and stronger now. Ancient people would probably be pretty puny.

We wouldn't need steroids. Vikings were considered to be huge people, and they were short by today's standards.

Thats right- the women had to wait for the games of Hera ;) (which, BTW, is a true, if little known sporting event of ancient times)

Modern, no question.
