WHy can I trade maps with some Civs, while otehrs I can't?

can you be more specific. if you could say what is going on and what the conditions are, i might be able to help. :)

Some have Map Making/Navigation, depending on your version, and some don't.

I think it was Navigation... :hmm:

i dont think u need an embasy with them, so they prolly dont have navigation

Well, I could trade maps with Korea. But I can't trade maps with the Aztecs.

Oh, one more question. How come I can only have mutual protection pacts with Korea so far? What is so special about them from otehr civs? I'm in the second era, and all the other civs are in the Industrailization era.

In order to trade maps, one of the traders has to know map making. (1.29)

If you DON'T know it, you can trade maps with those civs only, who know it.

I suppose the same applies when map trading is enabled by navigation.

Oh I see, I think it's because the other civs have the tech and I don't...

By the way, did you know that the AI can see the whole map from the start!? Yes, it's true. Every terrain tile, city, resource. They know what's there. So really, it shows that maps you can give away with little regret. You are not revealing your secret city locations, but you are only allowing them to trade with other civilizations at most.
