Why can't I get access to GlobalDefines.XML?

Warlords 2.13 (don't have BtS).

Edited GlobalDefines.XML to allow retention of up to 80 EXP when upgrading. Then realized that I had edited the file for Civ4, not Warlords. (Know this because I am playing a Warlords game and just did an upgrade, which -- you guessed it -- cut EXP down to 10.)

Located the file for Warlords. But when I try to open it -- in any of XML editor, Word, or Wordpad, it attempts to contact the Internet to find it, and fails. But Warlords can obviously find the file & use it.

Anybody got a clue what is going on here?

Well i can open the file, so there must be something messed up with your editor maybe ?

Btw. using Word does not strike me as a good idea. Try Notepad.

Thanks -- Wordpad worked. Still can't figure why the vanilla Civ4 file opened in Wordpad automatically but the warlords one didn't. Oh well.
