I almost always play at the same difficulty level and almost always play at Standard map - why in the world did both Civ 6 and 7 not save what I did last game? Why always default to a super low skill level and a small map. I don't get it. This is hate your players kind of crap. I was surprised to see this level of ignorance in a new game. SAVE MY LAST SETTINGS for new games!

Actually it's kinda possible via advanced settings with a twist. The random seeds are also being saved which will always give you the exact same map. Hence still completely idiotic.

You can save them and reuse them in both Civ 6 and 7

How? Because there was never a way to do it in Civ 6 and there isn't in Civ 7 unless you have some sort of magic trick. Start a game on a large map and difficulty Sovereign. Once the game has launched, exit to Main Menu and go to start a new game. It defaults back to small and to a lower skill level. This is seriously not user friendly.

Advanced options, Save & Load Loadout on the left

This was already in civ 6

This is a terrible way to do this imo - and in 7 it loads the map and game seeds for some unknown reason, and there's no randomize button, so you need to manually edit the seed. Like, what? Seriously, just have the previous game settings stay, or allow us to edit the config file to our preferences.

I can understand some of the pain, since a new game could have any new Game Modes or mods or options, how can they trust the state saved? But yeah i would love a mod that tried to keep as many settings the same as possible.
