You do have a very good point there, based on the eruptions of Krakatoa and Tamboro in Indonesia. The eruption of Tamboro in 1815 was why 1816 was called the Year Without a Summer in the U.S.
I will need to check on the forests, but I suspect that they only damage man-made items. I will need to check on irrigation for any effects.
