Why is Poland so strong in Civ 5, when it is so weak in real life ?
Do your research: Poland was a very powerful country during the 16th and 17th centuries.
Why are the Huns so strong, when IRL they don't even exist anymore
Like all the other civilizations, poland also has Its strength and weaknesses. Its quick social policy adoption could make future social policies way more expensive for example. Im not sure but its possible. Another thing, not having cattle or stable animals around could make its ub useless.
As others have said--they were very strong and powerful centuries ago. If history had worked out differently, maybe they would have remained a powerhouse.
And the game is like that. If you don't play the game right--Poland will not be powerful in the late game.
Besides--the Atecs and Mayans don't even exist today.
No... Poland's free policies are truly free: they don't increase costs of later policies. So the free policies don't have a downside. Except that they make Poland unbalanced. But hey... it's fun to play an unbalanced civ now & again.
This is a game....everything has to be balanced.
No-one is going to play if the only countries that are capable of winning are the USA,England, Russia, China, Japan, France, Germany etc.....
I guess, but civilizations with science would be much better though because of all the better units that you can get. Not to mention the bonuses or wonders that you may get from getting to a technology first.
Poland is strong even on SV. You either complete Trad very quickly or use the Lib/trad hybrid to expand fast. Both gives very strong science.
Well, didn't Poland give us the Witcher series?
I find it more offensive that America is almost bottom tier and England is basically mid tier and yet both are very sucecssful nations/empires IRL.
Most of the most famous/strongest historical civilizations came with the vanilla game.
The various DLCs therefore include more obscure civs but due to powercreep these DLC civs are often powerful than the original civs, and include most of the top tier civs, such as Korea and the Mayas.
Coming in the last expansion, Poland encapsulates this best, being both very powerful and a reasonably obscure choice of country.
Maybe Poland IRL are turtling for a Info Era DomV.
