I am watching the movie Troy and it got me wondering why there is no Civ based on the Trojans?

For that matter, there could be a civ separate from the Greeks called the Spartans.

Just an idea for those of you out there that know how to do things like that.:king:

The Etruscans were in Italy and Troy was in Turkey!;)

Yes, of course, you're right. Who was I thinking of then? The Hittites?

True they weren't a civilization spanning multiple continents but there are stories written about them and such and everybody knows who they are.

Troy would be a great custom civ for somebody to create.

There was talk of *maybe* adding a Trojan civ after Warlords was released. we'll see what happens.
I've had the same thought for quite a while now and Troy is definitely on my radar for post Warlords. My modpack will be losing 6 civs and Troy is one I would like to do, complete with a Trojan Horse UU (if it is within my ability). :D

I was told that our current Hannibal would be perfect for Troy, so that might be an option. I love the Trojan Horse idea, by the way...that or a condom guy that limits growth but increases happiness.

I doubt the Trojians would have the Trojian horse as an UU... it was used against them, not by them!!

Isn't Troy on the Greek list of cities? if not, it should be since the Greek civ is supposed to encompass most of the different Hellenistic city-states. Even though Troy was located in what is currently Turkey the Trojans were culturally and ethnically Greeks. Therefore a Trojan civ is unnecessary unless we're talking about an Aegean sea scenario or something.

And Kristian, you're right the idea of a Trojan Horse UU is odd, since it was used by the Mycenean alliance against the Trojans.
How about the Trojan Whores UU?

Oops, you're right. I have to stay awake in history class a little better from now on. I still would like to do a Trojan civ, however. Perhaps, the trojan guard suggested above would be a good UU.

Now, THOSE are two unique units that would work well together!

That's where we get the expression: "Beware of Greeks bearing gifts."

The Hittites were closer to Egypt (and First to use iron) If anything the Persians would have Troy since it was their Empire that was in that area.

was not troy a heap of rubble at the time of the Persian Wars?
it was only really on the greek list cuz people think its greek, usually.
why are both Pi-Ramesses, Pithom and Avaris all on the egyptian citylists?
they are all on roughly the same spot.
tis like having byzantium, constantinople and istanbul on the same citylist.

What would a citylist for a Trojan civilization look like? I've not read the Illiad (so I don't know if they might have had smaller centres), but it seems like it would be:
Troy
