Why the 24th for UK?

Me think they should have released on 17th for Europe and the 21st for NA :)

Last minute changes, logistical things? They're probably doing things to the last possible second, so they can't make it earlier for some.

I understand they have to wait for B&M stores to get the shipping before doing the international release day, so the 24th is ok.

HOWEVER, i wonder if the actual time of release will still be based on the US time (as in, will i have to wait till 7 pm again despite it being a release for the rest of the world and not having anything to do with the US).

Gogo release it at 9 AM (Japan time), i mean seriously people there will get it on the 25th at this rate !

Just go in the steam store, search for CiV and you'll see the couter that says "the game will unlock in approximately 1 week, 2 days and 9 hours"

How egocentric. You don't even say "why the 24th for europe".

How egocentric. You don't even say "why the 24th for the rest of the world.".

The question was about Britain, why would the poster really bother about the rest of Europe? Everyone seems to have known what he meant. On the upside, if it was released in the UK on the 21st you could pop down to Gibraltar and try to get it there. :p

You can't criticise someone because they want to know why a game isn't out in their country rather than continent.

I guess they partially compensate and we in Europe can spend 3 days playing the 1st 100 turns in the demo until release

I did say europe because very often games are released at different days in different continents. US release, europe release, asia release, and such. But there isn't a UK release and a switzerland release. Therefore, saying "i want it in UK earlier" instead of saying in your entire "release zone", sounds egocentric.

Relax I'm just messing but I still think it's irrelevant that he said Britain.

:goodjob:

Because Games in Europe historically get released on Fridays, the 24th is a Friday
Games in NA usually get releases on Tuesdays. (the 21st).

But thats only because they adopted the Tradition SP-Tree. If they would have gone for Rationalism, Civ5 would have come out at the 21st all around the globe.

They must really hate us. Its the ONLY explanation!

Nah, just has to do with the deals with the retail stores. Bring it on steam earlier and they loss a big amount of sales.

Hope they do away with retail stores soon :)

Anyway lets hope the demo has four days of play in it!

I think the delay really is just a result of extra time being needed to allow copies of the game to be distributed world-wide. It's certainly true that this reasoning can't be directly applied to digital copies for obvious reasons. The problem is if they allow digital copies to be released worldwide on the 21st, but can't do the same for retail copies, retailers see themselves as being put at a disadvantage and they don't like it. I think it's a relations thing. 2K don't want to make themselves unpopular with retail outlets because they still get a lot of money from those sales; they're still reliant on retail.

It's actually 3 days of playtime that you need (Tue - Wed - Thu). Beside, even if the demo doesn't last that long, I'm sure you can kill the time by reading the huge Civipedia (I know I will).

You should be thankful we're sharing our culture with you at all. I've seen your country's television.

Yes because 'BJ and the Bear' and 'Joey' were fantastic additions to the human experience, on a par with Shakespeare's greatest works and the fabled 'The Office'.

yankees need more time to understand the game mechanics tbh :p:p:p
