Why the long wait for Gunships?

I kinda' miss getting my Gunships earlier as opposed to the longer wait in BTS (Advanced Flight now). Historically, helicopters were flying long before the discovery and use of stealth technology...

you get gunships with advanced flight not stealth, historically i don't believe they really started putting weapons on helicopters till the Vietnam war until then they were used without weapons to ferry troops around and medical evac.
