Why the PS4 will beat Xbox One

Decide for yourselves which you think was better. There is more that I couldn't fit in the screen capture due to the size of the chart.

Even though to begin with, it has a higher screen resolution?

That is false.

It doesn't even make sense, resolution is independent of storage medium, you can store really short low-bitrate 4K videos on floppy disks if you want.

Yes it is.

Blu-ray has marginally more capacity.

HD-DVD had more consumer friendly DRM, worked far better on PCs and was more durable.

If the extra capacity of Blu-ray actually gave any quality difference, HD-DVD could easily have matched that capacity by now. (Toshiba specced out 51GB HD-DVDs in 2007, shortly before abandoning the format.)

I'd be happy just shouting at my TV tbh. That by itself would be a big enough advance, and it's doable using this generation of voice recognition technology. I just want devs to let me programme some keywords to listen out for, to quickly change to a certain weapon or tell the winger to make a run or whatever.

Imagine the possibilities of interactive porn games.

Well, apparently in Dead Rising 3, there will be some level of interaction with kinect, like the zombies will be able to hear you if you're too loud and rush to your character's location.
So kinect will certainly have some interesting uses in games; It's up to the developers to exploit them.

I'm saying just as Blu ray won because blu-ray players were simply better hardware than HD-DVD's, PS4 will prevail over Xbox1 because the PS4 has better hardware.

How's that Betamax player working out for you?

Technological superiority isn't dispositive as to market success.

This entire debate is subjective.

Whenever one side attempts to claim some ground there is always someone to concupiscently argue the inverse.

We all have different lifestyles and I'm sure different consoles will appeal to different demographics.

Just please, for the love of all that is sane, if you must engage in a debate please bring something more to the table than a simple "No it's not". :cringe: Any idiot can do that.

I assume that the centrepiece of Microsoft's Xbox One announcement is going to be better than a tacked on bullet point in a powerpoint presentation for an optional peripheral of the PS4, yes.

That would depend on who developed the technology, would it not? Now, I don't know anything about either system - I am not going to be buying any gaming console this generation, at least not until my daughter is in primary school, the prices have dropped massively and she decides she might like to play whatever the latest Crash Bandicoot-style platformer is - but if Microsoft and Sony are relying on third parties to develop the camera and motion sensor technology for them, they could well be the same technology entirely. If they're doing it themselves, Sony is an electronics company and would presumably have an advantage, but you're right, it is a peripheral.

This is a really stupid argument. It's entirely possible that both the hardware and the software is identical in every way. That is not proof that both the hardware and the software is identical in every way.

I mean, cars, they're all the same, right?

I don't recall making either of those arguments.

"they could well be the same technology entirely"
I was kind of hoping someone knew more about these products than I did and could enlighten me as to the technical side of things, since I've never used either a PS3 or an X-Box, let alone their peripherals. But if you'd rather chuck a hissy-fit over a throwaway comment after misinterpreting it to begin with, be my guest.
