Why the PS4 will beat Xbox One

Thinking back on most other consoles, the launch games are soon forgotten as 80% a rushed, and quickly supposed as developers have more time with the consoles.

That's true, with the exception of Atari 2600 and the classic Nintendo consoles (NES-N64) most launch titles are incredibly underwhelming, poor Sony is consistent in this regard.

I'm going off wiki more than memory here, but both PS2 and Xbox had launch titles that lasted, that measured up to stuff released over the following year or two. Midnight Club, Smuggler's Run, Timesplitters, SSX, Tony Hawk 3, Max Payne, etc. Going back further, arcade ports like Golden Axe, Altered Beast and the original Ridge Racer were launch titles. SSX and Tony Hawk 3 in particular.

I've seen nothing so far to make me want to get a ps4/xbone at launch, and adding a free copy of Fifa doesn't make it more appealing, either. But that doesn't mean the launch games will be bad.

Yeah, I wouldn't buy either a PS4 and/or an Xbox 1 at launch even if I did have the time/money to justify the purchase.

That said, I don't think the launch for either of those systems are any worse than the Xbox 360/ PS3 launch.

http://www.gamespot.com/news/playstation-4-noticeably-faster-than-xbox-one-report-6414431

Anonymous developer sources have indicated that the PlayStation 4 is "noticeably faster" than the Xbox One in key performance areas, according to UK magazine Edge.

Memory reads on PlayStation 4 are 40-50 percent faster than Xbox One, says the report, and the arithmetic logic unit (ALU) on Sony's graphic card is also said to be twice as fast than its next-gen competition.

A basic example given by one developer is that a current multiplatform title can run at a resolution of 1920x1080 at 30fps on PlayStation 4, but that on Xbox One the framerate will drop to 20-something at the lower resolution of 1600x900.

“Xbox One is weaker and it's a pain to use its ESRAM,” added another developer.

"Anonymous developer sources" ; While the PS4 might be faster than the Xbox One, I highly doubt the difference would be that much, it would probably be even less in real-world performance.

Don't take my previous post to mean I'm a sony fanboy or anything, Birra. I just thought it was interesting! For the record, I'll always be aligned with this team... :mwaha:

Oh I wasn't implying such a thing, I just think that the article seems heavily biased towards Sony, with no reliable sources to back up their claims. BTW, I love PC gaming as well, I always get the PC versions of most games, unless they're console exclusives.

The Xbone will lose by sales figures to the other two consoles for the same reason the Xbox 360 lost: Microsoft doesn't compete internationally. The 360 never sold well in markets outside of the west and I don't see that trend ending.

The xbox 360 has outsold the PS3 to date.

And if you're just counting North America, it's going to outsell the Wii too.
