The answer is that quite some UK supermarkets tend to sell Stella at a huge discount in some periods (important football matches, etc.), apparently causing loads of Brits to gorge upon Stella instead of their usual cheaper brands. The slightly higher alcohol content causes them to behave even more aggressive than usual.

So does Stella have this reputation in any country outside of the UK? In the US it is a fairly upscale beer.
