Will I be able to load my current game after I patch?

I assume the answer is no, but it almost seems as if some people have been able to pull this off. I'm not willing to leave behind the wooping I'm deleriving to all on Monarch at the moment, but I'd sure love to add that shift-i and stacked movement to my repetoire!

Please post if you've been able to patch and carry on. Also, if it matters for your answer, I'm very modded, including lots of changes to the tickers and three new units.

JN, check out my earlier post about finishing up your 1.16 game, and see what you think. Someone besides myself should judge whether the process listed there is valid.

I can’t check it myself, alas, because I lost my .bic and .txt files because the 1.17 patch overwrote them. I had rewritten the weak .txt files, so I lost dozens of hours. A simple oversight not to have backed up the files first, especially since I had run into the same problems with Alpha Centauri patches overwriting those .txt files. Redoing the .bic is quicker, but I’m taking it in steps. Many small changes built a beast of a .bic.

I just slapped in the 1.17f upgrade mid game and carried on. The new bits work, and the AI is still pissed off with me, so I think it is working okay.
