Will multiplayer internet games be available instantly?

I would like to play with a buddy tonight.(Europe, so 1 AM our time)
So we'd like to start an internet game. Anyone knows, if that is possible right from the start of the release?

I was on that site just before i started a thread, but the video doesn't start and i can't see anything there that answers my question.

Could anyone just be easy on me and give me an answer.

I would assume that MP works, but the players will be limited and it will still have the same issue as Civ5 in that the games list will be regional.
