Will only start a vanilla game

I downloaded g&k and it didn't work, I searched for help and did everything I could find.
Verified the cache, rebooted whole computer, nothing.
reinstalled, nothing.
verified cache again, rebooted, nothing.
it's 5 hours later and still trying to get this to work.

I get the gods and kings intro movie, the title screen also says gods and kings and under DLC it shows up but when I try to start a game it just gives me vanilla.

Are you sure it's not G&K? Is religion enabled at the top of your screen? Because vanilla doesn't have that.

Can you play as the new Civs(Ethiopia, Sweden, the Huns, to name a few)?
