Lines of verse precisely stated:
Frustration and beauty thoughtfully mated

Here are 16 actual error messages seen on the computer screens in Japan, where they are written in Haiku..

Chaos reigns within
Reflect, repent, and reboot
Order shall return.

Program aborting
Close all that you have worked on
You ask far too much.

Windows NT crashed
I am the Blue Screen of Death
No one hears your screams.

Yesterday it worked
Today it is not working
Windows is like that.

Your file was so big
It might be very useful
But now it is gone.

Stay the patient course
Of little worth is your ire
The network is down

A crash reduces your expensive computer to a simple stone.

Three things are certain
Death, taxes and lost data
Guess which has occurred.

You step in the stream,
But the water has moved on.
This page is not here.

Out of memory.
We wish to hold the whole sky,
but we never will.

Having been erased,
The document you're seeking
Must now be retyped.

Serious error
All shortcuts have disappeared.
Screen. Mind. Both are blank.

Pick your favorite or write your own.

That's really cool.

"Windows NT crashed
I am the Blue Screen of Death
No one hears your screams. "

Changing ink required
Your printer is empty of colour
Go buy them online

I cannot confirm the validity of them being actual error messages (but they should be). I have a friend in Japan and will ask her if she has ever seen them.

That is definitely not an actual error message. The others are almost certainly not, either.
Why would Microsoft make jokes about themselves in error messages?

Definately not. Why? Because they have the proper number of syllables, and I highly doubt Japanese errror messages are written so that they'll be translated into English as perfect haikus.

Those are great. My weak attempt:

Enter frustration
Do not put the blame on me
It's in my BIOS

My favorite was this one, which I guess probably influenced mine somewhat:
Program aborting
Close all that you have worked on
You ask far too much.

They're not actual error messages. They're from an online contest held a few years ago to write haiku "error messages." I'm too lazy to dig up the link to the original, though. Still, they're pretty funny.

Not surprising.

He's right. They're pretty cool - actually, I think they're better as being created in a competition; if they were actual error messages they'd be dumb.
