I've got a Persian nation with Judaism and Hinduism in all cities. Free Religion is my religious civic. Portugal, a Hindu nation, just declared war on me. Now all my cities have an angry face with the reason that my people don't want to fight other Hindus, but I thought that only happened if you had a state religion.

Is this new, or did I just not notice this before?

You'll notice that you only get the penalty in cities with Hindus. I think it's always been like that, but I'm not positive. Might also be an Apostolic Palace thing.

I'm not sure I get that. It's causing me unhappiness in *my* cities when *he* was the one who declared war. How is that a good reason to spread religion. Also, I don't have a state religion so I'm not sure how it pertains to this particular situation.

Don't get me wrong - I think spreading religion early on is a good idea, but your statement has me a bit confused. :(

I missed an 'r', I meant *your* state religion, in a general case :p

(lot's of people ask "why spread religion?")

If you have a state religion, every opponent-at-war city with that religion will suffer from the "We don't fight our brothers of faith"
