World Editor question

About this world editor.
Is there no other way to make a custom map. Do I really need to start a new game and then proceed to erase everything manully so I can have fresh map to create upon. I know it will take me a whole ten minutes or something but it just seems Im missing something.

This has been asked (and answered) before, but if you have a scenario, you automatically also have a map (plus there are already quite a few custom maps), which you can edit using a simple text editor like Notepad. Also there is the odd Map Editor in the Utilities section. But yeah, a lot of the mapmaking is manual labour, sorry.
