Trying to be good.
Do you think one day (by whatever means) people of the world would be part of one nation, and speaking the same language?
can't there be a simple "yes" answer, without aliens?

Or they just feel that others wouldn't want to be united under an American leader, or a Zimbabwean leader, or a Jordanian Leader, or an Uraguaian leader, or a Swiss leader, or a Tajik leader, etc. Perhaps we aren't the jingoists, we just aren't naive to their existence elsewhere.
@ ss3goku, whoever said the whole world is going to industrialize. At this point, with Radical Muslim Fundamentalist revolutions springing up every-which-way (which are reactionary) many countries won't see the light of industrialization, modernization, or shall I dare say, "Westernization".

I think that relations will have to get better with the Islamic world after people realize in 2050 that the conflict has been going on for a 100+ years. Not to mention that i think more and more Muslims are becoming secular, leading to more Turkey like nations. Suppose that even if the Islamic nations don't see industrialization, the majority of the world will still be united, they cover a huge area, yes, but vastly outnumbered.

Who said the whole world is going to industrialize? We NEED cheap unregulated labor. The third world is going to REMAIN poor into the foreseeable future, if we have anything to do with it.
