How do you use such units? They are heroes, so you can make them great specialists or place one of several achievements.

Are they reusable once they die/get used?
Or you can't build it multiple times after they disappear?

I have a LOT of them as I hoarded all possible cultures.

Depens, I first use them to fight, when they result to be obsolete and they strenght is shrunk in comparision, then I use them to get great specialist, celebrities if I need gold -which is never- or happyness.

They aren't. Otherwise you would get infinite OP warriors, celebrities and great specialist, don't you think so? ;)

I get all cultures i can.. always.

With the first 10? I always get every national achievement. Those are just bonkers good.

The latter ones are divided by movement first. Anyone Not able to at lest move 3 gets to be a great person. Note not everyone can be anything. Great admirals are at a premium for me.

The rest gets to be a super stack healing priest (min +21% heal buff)

OR a super raid commando. With 5 full moves and commando you can cover a lot of ground.

Each Culture will have a two or three advantages. Initially this was two heroes and a unit. Both can be used as combat units but can also be used for other things. One is able to build the Achievements while both can be upgraded to a Commander or be settled as various people in a city.

They can only be built once. They are similar to Great Wonders that way.

Personally I would have preferred if the unit that could become a Commander was only available when you were playing with that option.

Since I don't use them in combat at all (I rarely fight wars) I use them first for the Achievements and then as specialists in cities to boost my Spies or military units.

First priority are the buildings they can create. After that, I find 1,2 or 3 cities , depending on mapsize, that I want to specialize as unitbuilders. Who needs heroes when you can build units with 50+ xp . I also add them as great engineers to build those superunits even faster. I never use them for combat as I feel that is OP. Of course, units with 50+ xp can also be OP, but at least getting there takes time and effort. I also almost never use the hidden nationality units, except ambusher and neanderthals, because it is too easy to wreck the AI that way.

Achievements first.
Some settled generals for the +2,4,6 XP next.
Then an engineer or 2 in the important cities.
Later as a human player who hoards cultures you can have 1 or 2 engineers in every city and have 5 or 10 generals in every unit building city.
Sometimes a great artist in a new city for fast culture.
Save some heroes with blitz and high movement (some get up to 7) as pigeon killers. Use forced march too and they can clean your entire realm of pests in 1 turn.

That's good to hear =)

We could also make the cultures more effort/reward.
If you need Africa + Europe + North America like Haiti, your special unit may be pretty frikkin good.
While just copper for spartans seems OP as f*.
Oh well so much stuff to wish for.
I am bugging my friends to help/teach me to code some stuff. Maybe some time i can help out, fix some cultures and units streamline some stuff.

I'm not sure if it's in the tips and tricks section but there's major threads here dedicated to introducing people to working with XML and Python. I suggest just XML at first. The team here is very supportive with helping folks to get up to speed with your skillset.

Charting change plans on Excel or on the cloud with Google Sheets is the most highly advised practice to start with before committing anything to actual XML.

Honestly, this stuff is a lot easier than you might think.
