I'd say that, while it's not actually short, it's not really tall either. It's an average, completely unimpressive height.

Yes. I'm 181 cm

The stats say it: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Average_human_height_by_country
With 180 cm you're at average height or slightly below in around 20 countries, and in all other countries you are above. The Netherlands is the country with the tallest people, averaging 183 cm for men.
So yeah, 180 cm is tall in most countries, average in a few, and definitely not short anywhere.

It's above average here very rarely do I have to look up to someone.

I wake up a few millimeters above 180 cm, by the evening, I'm usually down to 179 cm, I can dip a few millimeters below that if I'm dehydrated or if I've done a lot of physically demanding activity, but I just claim 180 cm. If I used the feet and inches system, I'd probably just round up to 6 feet tall.

Your true height is your morning height, the average person shrinks 2 cm a day from gravity on their spine. I'm lucky, I only shrink a little over 1 cm on most days. If I started taking glucosamine sulfate, I could probably reduce my daily shrinkage, and be about 179.5 in the evening, never dipping below 179 no matter what.

I was supposed to be 187 cm, according to a prediction the doctor made when I was 11 or 12, but sadly, I am only 180 cm. I wish I was tall.

I'd consider it to be shorter than me, which is probably all that matters to me.
And how tall are you?

About 5 foot eleven, although I can't say my fathers 5 foot eight or my brothers 5 foot nine has ever disadvantaged them against me.

According to google, 5 foot eleven is approximately 180 cm. So we're about the same height.

Above average for Japan but not tall.

This is the average height (brown) and weight (green) over time for men and women in their thirties.

Here over much the same timeframe is annual consumption of meats:

Blue: beef
Orange: pork
Black: chicken
Yellow: whale
Dark blue: other

I’d say arbitrarily that 185+ is tall (for men).

It’s frustrating that I went from never being able to find anything in my size because I’m too skinny to not being able to find anything because I’m too tall. Hopefully I get a couple inches knocked off. I know a girl who lost 4 inches from hormones.

Old Navy has an entire line for tall women. I have ethical objections to Old Navy's business model, but it's not a hill I'm willing to die on.

At 181 I don't really regard people taller than me as tall until the difference is large. Realistically that's probably somewhere around 190+.

How does that work? Do the bones shrink?

Anyone shorter than me is at best a pocket prince.
How tall am I? Have fun guessing!

People shrink with age, females more than males. Prince Philip, who died at 99, shrunk about 10 cm by the time he died.

How does that work? Do the bones shrink?

Combination of fat redistribution, posture change, and narrowing of the space between joints.

exceedingly strange question..?

as a dane where 180 is average i still understand it as quite tall, because it is. i get the whole 6 feet meme and all, which is 182 i think? but the whole meme and those that want such heights do so because they like specifically tall guys.

considering it short... i have no clue who would think that. maybe something shows up in the poll

It is short. All men should at least be 2 metres tall.

(I am 1.72, which is the best height, objectively )

In addition to Schlaufuchs: My orthopedist told me, that the spinal disks get compressed during the day so the total height decreases.

I like to imagine that if the victim of Procrustes happened to have exactly the same height as the (length) bed, he'd congratulate him and they would part as friends
