Would you take a highly paid job if you had to oppress people

    Oppression as I see it is long hours under bad working conditions for close to minimum wage work and unpaid overtime.

    I could acceptably oversee this if the end pay was proportional pay for performance----pieces of eight.
    If the minimum wage at the time was fair for the work, huuuuraaaah!!!!


    Still the terms like "bad" and "horrible" really vary with the person.
    And the value of the minimum wage has to be judged relative to inflation, the cost of living, etc...

    No dude, minimum wage is $7.25 here and for oppression, the company sometimes won't pay them because it doesn't feel like it -- just to screw with them.

    $7.25 in 1900's USA would be an excellent hourly wage, even for handling TNT.
