Don't ever trust anything that's published on April 1.
Dang. I've been April Foolproof until now.. I can't find the publication date so I kinda hope it might be true hahaha. Same with Imp Knoedel, I didn't read till the end..
Say Leoreth have you ever considered of opening an online bank account and asking money for mod development? Im sure some people would tip money for your hard work.
I'm like 99% sure that's illegal, because he would be profiting off intellectual property he does not own, i.e. Civilization IV.
Embryodead did that for his SoI mod. The donation are treated as personal support, not for commersializing some parts of the game. I think it is actually alright unless:
1) you must donate to download/play the game
2) the donation link is advertised everywhere, i.e. in signatures, DoM text, Civilopedia etc
3) donation is encouraged, less development will stop
"Here's 5.000 €, now include Venice/Equestria/my own made up civ with me as a leader, here's some photos of me you can use."
On that note, can we implement this civ please? I pay every price!
I have thought about it. What I don't like is the general implication that the mod is work that I need to be paid for. It's not, it's my hobby.
As already mentioned, I think it's okay. Edead did something similar, and in general there are lots of people who work for commission or via Patreon to create fanworks for established media.
I'm not totally averse to a "buy me a beer to show your appreciation" donation button. Acting as if the mod is something that needs to be paid for is disingenuous, and would probably change my relationship to working on it.
You could always fully divert the donation to charity bodies if you rather not receive it. I forgot the name, but there's a talented pianist somewhere in the world that arrange sheet music for popular songs; he charges 5USD iirc but all purchase made are 100% donated to cancer foundation.
If you set up something similar like the pianist, in my opinion:
1) you show sign of respect to people who wish to appreciate your hardwork.
2 ) it is still your hobby since not even 1 cent will go to your pocket at all
3) you do a good deeds, because somebody out there will be grateful for the charity
4) you indirectly help your players to do charity as well
Edit: either I mixed up informations since I've been regularly visiting Piano sheet music site, or only recently it becomes free-but-encouraged-to-donate (?). Or there's another pianist, not this one. But here the link anyway:

I'll consider it.
What is it?
According to the shirt he's wearing, a employee of the Nederlandse Spoorwegen. (Dutch Railways)
The logo on his shirt does me remind of them.
Uh I don't know anything about that but I'm pretty sure he's from Homestuck.
That's right. I'm completely Homestuck themed again.
Next time Chitanda pls.
Heh, I could see that.
For future reference, 私、気になります is correct right?
I'm actually learning Japanese now, mostly learning the hiragana.
I've learned about 30 characters so far.
My handwriting is horrible in English, doubly so in Japanese.
Separate names with a comma.
