Alright I was just playing a game and I absolutley hate ancient warfare therefore I don't get involved in any military actions. For no apparent reason the Aztecs destroy one of my cities and kills off my scout. I did nothing to them, I havent even see where there empire is. I have been nice and traded with them yet they still attacked me. I don't bulk up much on defense only 2 regular warriors a city for martial law purposes. Then I reloaded and thought that if I traded them some gold per turn they'd back off, but they attacked anyways. Any way to stop them from doing this.

Not sure...did they attack with their unique unit? (Impi, right?) If so, I think they AI doesn't care about anything else, except getting into their Golden Age. I've seen a peaceful, politle trading parter attack me with War Elephants(India) just because I happen to be closest.

Allright thanks. Guess that makes sense. Stupid jaugar warriors keep retreating from all my defenders when they are losing. I think I'll restart and not play vrs oppenents with Acient UUs.

the AI has a fetish for attacking poorly defended cities (which is usually understandable). if you can't suffer through the loss of the city and kick them in the face, i'd load it back and change to/whip a spearman. then depending on your difficulty level, make about 5 archers/swords and go a-huntin'. it's unlikely that the computer will be able to muster more of an attack this early in the game for some time, so you should at least be able to sue for peace without taking too much more damage, if you're that much of a wuss.
good luck! early wars are some of the most challenging and important in the game, and though it isnt always fun, you can really help your civ out by taking over one of your neighbors.

They are pretty far away from my civ, the only reason they got here so fast is because of there jaugar warriors. which can go twice as fast as my units, and I'm going down a peaceful path to get library's and stuff. Meaning no horsemen, I think archer's would be slow. I guess 'll give it a shot.

It's more fun if you never reload too.

Monty probably just sees you as an easy target. If his forces out number yours then he will jump you. Even if you dont intend on being involved in any wars its always a good idea to keep your military up to deter the aggresive little b$#@$#&s.

On the other hand why not get some archers together and go down and give him a good old fashioned ass whoopin. Early wars are where you can really gain some techs and area fast. Nothing expands your civilization faster than taking someone elses cities. :goodjob:

Your weak and they know it. The Aztecs are a waring race. They will attack whenever the computer AI informs them of a weaker civ. Namely you.
Furthermore, expecting any kind of human emotions like compassion, loyalty, honor, mercy ect from the CIV AI is an excersize in futility.
Look at it from the perspective I use. ALL of the civs other than yours are ONE BIG ENEMY. just divided into colored sections. You are ALWAYS at war with only intermissions of building up your arsenal between actual combat.
See it that way and you'll be better off. At least you wont be suprised when the civ you'v had a MPP, ROP with for 500 years suddenly turns on you because another civ offered them some wine and 200 gold.

That's an interesting point Maximus and in this game very, very true. Too bad its hard to get the system to properly work for us. Oh well.

You know what u got to do to keep em off ur back ? if u see there units marching usualy its like 2 or 3 maybe 5 to invade u in early part of the game...just send some units to meat them and tell em to get the heck off ur land or u will be forced to screw them up !!!

chances are they will do it...unless they come with large force then yours, then they gona get pissed off and kick butt :)
