Yeah what can I say, I saw the opportunity to bomb Pearl Harbor again and again, and I went for it.

As the Japanese regroup in Indonesia and Borneo, they launch a daring naval siege of Port Moresby, over in New Guinea.

Colonel Leslie Groves (code name Henry Ford ), who later led the Manhattan Project, oversaw the rapid construction of the Pentagon in late June 1942! This is the only World wonder possible to build in this mod, so all the Western Allies are celebrating this monumental (pun intended) victory! Because Permanent Allies can share the effects of World Wonders -- the British are especially happy: any city with the barracks can now draft level 2 units instantly! Josef Stalin allegedly stated the war would be won with "British brains, American brawn(steel), and Soviet blood"!

Not too much developed here in Early July, 1942. The Port Moresby siege was called off, but not before sinking a Transport on the way out. Meanwhile, the Military Governors of Borneo are scratching their heads, wondering just how to properly secure their oil resources as the British Royal Navy bombs their oil well- again. However, in a lucky act of revenge, a daring Japanese Zero Ace sets out and sinks the HMS Enterprise, as revenge for blowing up the oil fields.

Regardless, the lack of oil is really starting to hurt the Japanese war machine.

Allies have successfully defended Midway atoll and won the Midway quest this turn, the first of 3(?) quests in this mod! (Guadalcanal quest works fine, but Philippines quest has never fired for me in test games ) The atoll was reinforced so well, that the Japanese didn't even bother probing its defenses. A brand new Escort Carrier joined the American Fleet, a very welcome development, given the fact there will be no new US ship arrivals until September. As long as vital Oil supplies are being denied to Japanese Empire -- Allies will catch up in the Naval strength, slowly but steadily. IJN's submarine force has been already reduced from 20 to just 2 vessels, while Allied submarines wrecked total havoc right in the full view of Tokyo's harbor, destroying 5 Fishing Vessels (300 in total).

The Empire strikes back! It has been a pretty lackluster month or two for Imperial Japan, with no major victories to gloat about back home. However, one front that has been progressing consistently well is the assault on China, as the Chinese capital of Chungking has fallen to the Imperial Army!

Elsewhere, the Imperial Navy has made a daring counter-attack, and reclaimed Kwajalein Atoll from the Americans, bumping the Japanese victory city count up to 10!

I feel like Chinese AI ineptitude has penetrated even into the luck department. What an irony: Great General was finally born in the Capital, which was lost during the same turn!

ANZAC spirit was on the full display in late July 1942: 2 newly upgraded divisions and one old 6th Division, still healing after the action around Singapore, came from seemingly nowhere and taught a painful lesson to overconfident Japanese, who have tasked 3 ground units to guard 8 naval assets and 10 air units within an easy reach by the Royal Navy (assuming all the CVEs and CVLs are fully loaded).

That last one is not relatable to our game at all- I essentially did just walk into China. I'm interested to see how different a human Chinese opponent would be, compared to an AI.

Late August, 1942. No major trade of territory occurred this fortnight, but the Imperial Japanese Army did engage in a couple of large battles, as a Chinese contingent set out to stop the advance in the hills above Chengdu; and meanwhile, the Imperial Army launched it's invasion of British controlled Burma.

Well, let's just say Chinese captured 3 cities from Japanese, and yeah, the whole thing looked rather embarrassing, even after I recaptured 2. I never realized how effective a human wave of endlessly drafted armies can be. And obviously, I made a serious blunder with my own attack . Turns out, while AI is wasting Artillery without defenders, human players use it very effectively against the besieging troops.
