Iberian Pack: Spanish Falange and Portugese Rifleman: Get it here, at my units section (post 5)

Note: To all you WWII-Scenario experts and What-if-World builders- here is your genuine Portugese Rifleman Soldier as appeared in the period of WWII.

Estado Novo (Portuguese: New State) is the name of the Portuguese Conservative Authoritarian regime installed in 1933, following a coup d'état against the democratic republic by the army in 1926. The Estado Novo was developed by António de Oliveira Salazar, ruler of Portugal from 1932 to 1968.

The Estado Novo was a dictatorial regime with a fascist orientation, which differed from other fascist-oriented regimes, like Nationalist Spain or Italy by its more moderate use of state violence. Salazar was a Catholic traditionalist who believed in the necessity of control over the forces of economic modernisation in order to defend the catholic and rural values of the country, which he imagined under threat (...) enforcing Nationalist and Catholic values onto the Portuguese population. The whole Education System was directed to the exaltation of the Portuguese Nation and its overseas colonies (the Ultramar). The motto of the regime was Deus, Pátria e Familia (meaning God, Fatherland and Family). Later on the main raison d'être of the regime came to be an attempt to resist the wave of decolonization which swept Europe after the end of WWII. (...) India invaded and annexed Portuguese India in 1961. Independence movements also became active in Angola, Mozambique and Portuguese Guinea, and a series of colonial wars started.

What if the Portugese Dictatorship had foreseen the downfall of its overseas Empire and decided to join the other fascist regimes, the Axis Powers to try to reverse the trend and preserve its national interests? Download this unit to find out and Njoy!

Oops, you forgot to provide the *.amb files in the Portuguese Rifleman's folder. I trasferred them from the Spaniard in the same pack, then.

Thank you :)

Added a Link for the Amb files in the download section- for those that downloaded the files prior to this, please either copy the 2 amb files from the falange into the Portugese Rifleman's folder or get them at the download thread site

Austrian Infantry unit. I am not sure what all the units names would have been, pre WW2 Before Austria joined with Germany.
Still "Bundesheer":

"The name of the Military of Austria is Bundesheer ("Federal Army"). For a short while between 1918 and 1921 the Austrian semi-regular army was called Volkswehr (peoples defence), fighting against Slovenian occupation forces in Carinthia. Since then (with the exception of the Second World War period when Austria was under German occupation) it has been known as "Bundesheer". The Austrian Army did develop a defence plan in 1938 against Germany, but due to political decisions it was never carried out."

good Job on your WWII Portugese Rifleman.

very nice, and a look at my name to guess why.
Just a little mention on Salazars entry into the war. Salazar, despite being a fascist was very much leaning towards the allies. However it is a possibility that he might have joined the allies in an attempt to get the significant Italian claims in africa (the spoils system).

Portugal vs. Spain

@BadKharma- LoL- complain to the Civ3 Firaxis team- they made everything so small even I couldn't tell at their scale :mischief:
To be honest: I made the Portugese soldier before making the Italian- so its not the Portugese wearing an Italian helmet, but the Italian that is wearing a Portugese one ;)

But the Italian helmet I made is actualy different from my Portugese:
