[GS] Xb1 cant resume multiplayer game

Started a game with a pal the other day and when I load the multiplayer lobby today and we ready up it crashes his game and freezes mine. If I load up by myself as host I can get in and play. When I invite him from there it freezes my game when he joins and he gets kicked to menu. What could be the issue??

Update: works if hes host. Maybe my potato internet is to blame
