ok, i am new at this code stuff.
with the XML , i can basically just change the unit stats, eg: movement from 5 to 6.
then i save it?
then it works fine with 6 movement spaces instead of 5.
will that only affect new games of all saved games as well?
i just want to be sure thats how it works before i try this.
thanks
tony

Yeah, it's a pain but some XML files can be change as much as you want without having any problems with saved games. Like adding new art. (Art files with different names requiring changing the art def reference in XML), then there are the text entries for the civilopedia. Those can be changed as much as you want.

The XML gets loaded whenever you run Civ 4, and it gets loaded for a mod if you load a mod as well. So, simple stuff can be changed and it not be such a big deal. However, If for example you research the first 5 techs in a game, saved it and then changed the XML so that those 5 techs were at the end of the tech tree, this would cause your save game to crash upon loading it.

Most major changes will result in a saved game crash. However, some simple unit changes such as the one you are suggestion shouldn't effect a saved game if those particular units are not available in your game yet. I might be wrong however, theoretically I think it works like that.
