XP crashes during erasplash

I have got XP to finally work and the game is crashing during the industrial era splash screen. Actually right after the window shows the industria; city with it's smokestacks it crashes!!!
Tech support had me remove the movies but the game still crashes.

I have the same problem. Every Civilization I've played has this same problem. Upon exiting the splash screen, the game crashes. I haven't found a work around either.

IMO, this game has some major issues that should have been worked out in Beta testing...

I had this same problem. For some reason If you click on the "What's the big picture" option the system does not crash
