Reading through the manual, it quickly became apparent that xp increases at a faster rate in Civ 5 than it did in Civ 4. For example, the barracks gives 15 xp, and a melee attack grants 5 xp. Does anyone know what the scale is for xp needed for a promotion? I couldn't find that in the manual anywhere.
