xp service pack 3

I got a notice service pack 3 was ready to be installed. Could this mess up any games I am playing or are the service packs pretty safe???

where did you get this message? Service Pack 3 for Windows XP isn't out yet, not for quite some time...so it'll possibly be some spyware/trojan that wants you to install it. I'd say keep your hands off it.....

Yeah, I just saw that. I was looking at the updates, and suddenly realized they were all for Office.

yep, was pretty surprised by your post, because that last thing I heard about SP3 was, that it was to be released only after Windows Vista.....

Sorry about starting the thread in the wrong spot. I didn't look at it close enough either. When I recently put SP on XP it started a shield which automatically checks for windows updates. I just looked more closely and noticed it is for office like you guys were saying. I am wondering if I should even let it update.
