Not to make light of a serious situation, where human life may be lost, but to offer a lesson perhaps, I've posted here a game featuring the advisaries in our current world crises (as close as I could get it anyhow).

*Small Map
*Monarch difficulty
*Standard settings
*Civs:
-America
-England
-Babylon
-Persia
-France
-Germany

As President of the United States of America, how will this conflict find resolution?

Judeo-Christian Capitalism v. European Socialism v. Islamic Tradition.

The struggle begins, and only your story is.....remaining.....to.....be.....told.

Rankings?

Option 1 --->

Conquest/Domination victory (final score = result).
Space Race/Cultural victory (1,000 + final score = result).
Diplomatic victory (2,000 + final score = result).

Option 2 --->

America/England combined score.
Germany/France coombined score.
Babylon/Persia combined score.

FYI ---> my current civ3mod.bic has unit alterations; see "djbmod.bic testing" thread for insights.

Aww. I wanted to be the russians or chinese, both who also have played major roles. But its a small map, so what do you do? :)

OMG, did Babylon attack anyone within a few turns of the start? I had to fight my @$$ off --- whew! The realism (re: hatred for America) was frightening. :eek:

Babylon is destroyed. All remaining civs appear to control their own continent/island w/ one small continent being shared. I'm purposely trying to seek England out as an ally. Persia stands alone as the game's sole representation of Islamic tradtion.

I fought, but didn't destroy Babylon. Then German declared war against me. I beat them back, rearmed, and attacked Babylon (sound familiar anyone?) Then Germany came at me again, so I took them out. I had a mutual treaty with France when Persia declared war on England. France went against England, so I got dragged into war again. Persia made a quick peace with England after we got involved - could Persia be playing us against each other? We shall see...

My game has been war-torn. Initially, I captured all of Germany's eastern lands, and then watched four cities flip back. England declared war on me, and after two wars, I finally secured some oil. An MPP ruined my reputation w/ England and Germany. So, my UN build, which is 3 turns away, may not be fruitful. I'm currently in my thrid war w/ Germany.

Ironically, my allies have been Persia and France.

America secures the votes needed for a diplomatic solution.

America -> Lincoln
France -> Lincoln
Persia -> Lincoln
Englnad -> abstain
Germany -> Bismarck
Babylon -> no vote (he-he-he ;))

Scores:

Option 1 ---

* 2273 (final score) + 2000 (UN victory) = 4273

Option 2 ---

* America/England -> 2273+1308 = 3581
* Germany/France -> 1122 + 860 = 1982
* Persia/Babylon -> 1054 + 51 = 1105

Judeo-Christian Capitalism wins!

Persia IS playing all sides against the middle! Xerxes built the UN while France and I fought England. I was at the brink of defeating England with two columns of Modern Armor at London, but I didn't attack. Why? France SWITCHED SIDES and started coming after me! We fought a long and pointless war - their land forces are no match for me, but I can't move my forces across the water without running into their sub fleet. (They have almost no surface vessels - very odd.) We're matched in the air. Now it's 2010 and I'm just holding on until the end of this...

Sounds like fun. I also noticed an abundance of subs which might be a result of my mod.bic changes. I gave subs/nuc subs increases in hit points 1/2 and movement 2/2. I had to build naval units to protect my transports.

That must be it. I liked the more powerful subs. They were a dominating naval force, not the auxillary units I'm used to. They made a real difference in how I waged war. I also built (and lost) many naval units trying to protect my transports.

I got a spy into France and saw they had 9/10 units for the Space Race victory. I would have rather taken a domination or diplomatic victory, but time was not on my side. I built the ship in short order and won with a score of 2267.

Now back to getting my ass whipped on Emperor level...I'm open to any suggestions.

Well its 710 BC and babylon is no more. I fought a war of agression from the outset by pillaging their land with my first 2 warriors, but lost the all-important strike. Managed to get to horseback riding with that wonderful trade from the start position (as well as a wonderful lucky settler from a hut southeast of babylon). They were fighting a defensive battle from then on, and when 6 horsemen came for Ur, it was taken. :). Now to see what the rest of this map is like... is it RIPE for the plucking :-D?

Now its 700 AD, and I've built a broad coalition to take on the Germans (whom I attacked after they tried to build a city on the last remaining free space on my continent (in like 500 AD).
I've got the Great Library and just paid England, Persia, and France to all join my coalition to "disarm" germany :-D
