I'm beginning to think I should've listened to my parents about sharing. In my "exploring Conquests" game, I was playing as France. Most of my land was on a peninsula. The chokepoint was held by four Ivories. Spotting them, I knew I wanted to build there, so I beat a settler out of Paris to get it quickly, before the other powers did. In mid-expansion phase, I spotted two German warriors and an archer heading for Lyons, my Zeus spot. Lyons was building Zeus about then. I told Bismark to shove off, and he declared war. This was a phony war. His troops were butchered. I took peace and his bank account.
At the very end of the expansion phase, Bismark tried the sneak attack again, with three archers and two warriors. Same thing happened- I told him to scram, he refused..only this time, I killed all of the archers I could find in his land and took peace, an optional tech, and some gold.
Then, during the medieval era, he started again, sending archers at me. This time I was really annoyed. I had been planning for the eventual take-over of Germany, and had assembled a lovely mongrel force of Knights, Ancient Cavalry, Medieval Infantry, Crusaders, and trebuchets. I started sacking German cities. I noticed the English sending horsemen to Lyons. I couldn't believe this, so I signed England to an MA. That was handy. The English got manhandled by the German army at first, but slowly won. This meant I was under no offensive pressure, and I had won most cities. Then England betrayed me by signing peace five turns before the agreement expired- and then she started sending troops into my territory.
What's with this? I've NEVER had this many sneak attacks against one place before- only one sneak attack against me in the four months I've been playng. Below is the current save. Play a few turns, and I guarantee you that England sneak-attacks.
(The FP in Lyons is a wonder prebuild...I don't dare build that FP until I figure out how it effects the game now)

This is the English army occupying what's left of the German offensive force for me. Good Lizzy.
