Playing at monarch difficulty level, anything other than a cultural victory is still a bridge too far for me (despite all the good hints and tips I get from this forum, thanks to all of you!) So here are my favourites when trying to achieve just that:
Favoured Religion: Hinduism (because it is almost always second if you leave it up to the AI, making it the first to research for the human player; AND because its nice tune when it spreads)
Favoured Civic: Organized Religion (until Free Religion becomes available)
Favoured CIV: Native Americans (but any civ with a good, early, special building or UU will do)
Favoured Leader: Sitting Bull (and any other leader with at least the charismatic, financial or philosophical trait)
Worst Enemy: Tokugawa (because I never ever even have achieved open borders with him, let alone anything better)
Favoured Map: Large, Continents (but sometimes Archipelago or Panagea)
Specialized Army: Riflemen (that's what you got to have to tech for if you want a cultural victory before getting run over by your opponents)
Diplomacy Level: 4 (less is more, but only when I am able to let other CIVs go to war with each other!)
Favoured Era: Ancient (because there is so much to explore, the way to your victory is still unknown, and the background music is the most appealing)
Favoured Difficulty: Monarch (because it is still very challenging for me, and I still have to find a way to win other than Cultural)
Maybe I'll post a new list after I have won in another way. Next century, or so...
