can anyone help please
i really wanna play this game
i've got both Alpha Centauri and alien crossfire installed plus patchs fo alpha cent
and i've gone in to the games directory and ran terran.exe & terranx.exe in compatabilaty mode (XP sp3, 2000 and 98/ME)

just can't get it to work

btw my CPU is a AMD athlon II X4 620

Go to C:\Program Files\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri and open the file named "Alpha Centauri.ini".
Insert the text "ForceOldVoxelAlgorithm=1"
(Or, if "ForceOldVoxelAlgorithm=0" is already there, change the 0 to a 1.)

You will still get the message upon start-up, but it will play the game instead of dumping you to windows when you click "ok"

I try and change the ForceOldVoxelAlgorithm=0 to 1 but when I try and save the file I get a message saying it cannot create the file, make sure all the file names and paths are correct.

Is there a way of solving this?

I'm going to assume that you're running Notepad under either Vista or Windows 7. If so, start Notepad using the Run as Administrator option (should be available with a right-click). You have to do this even if your logon account has admin privileges. You then should be able to save the file.

Oh ok,

I fixed it another way instead, I copied the file to another folder in my documents, changed it there, then copied it back.

And yeah i'm using vista.
