I really don't have a favourite
What a reply from the OP
I love Imperialism. It's my special modded government that gives me Fascim's unit support and worker speed, Republic's extra gold, Monarchy's no WW and Democracy's corruption.
Oh, my favourite is Democracy. Very conducive for building (although not very practical )
But I voted Republic, since that's what I'm using most.
Oops. I should have added "other" Just put it under depends on the situation or something
Don't worry aimee, it's just my dream government
Yep. Still Republic.
Communismn for me
Communism is probably the best gov't, but it isn't practical or necessary for most situations. Republic is it for 90% of my games.
Yeah, even in real life Communism would probably be the ideal government if it worked in practice the way it's supposed to work in theory. But it comes much too late in the game and doesn't work well in real life either. I voted Republic.
No gov can possibly compete with republic in a random game.
Republic was my vote
Looks like republic was pretty much everyone's vote.
Depends on the situation. Recently I've been warmongering, so I've been using Monarchy instead of Republic. In my current Earth game, I even considered switching back from Monarchy to Despotism for better unit support (and would have had it not been for the anarchy). Republic is good for peacetime, but sometimes Monarchy is preferable.
It's been interesting noticing which governments I've used most with different experience, though. When I first started, I almost always used Monarchy. Now Republic is usually my government. It's hard to match the science rate of Republic with Monarchy (although I think I just tied my record Industrial with Monarchy gov't).
And that Anarchy choice was very tempting...
As has been stated by others before: Republic unless tons of war is anticipated then Monarchy.
why does every body like republic more the democracy? I always thought democracy was better.
Two points should be enough:
1. War weariness in democracy is problematic.
2. A second revolt.
You don't get much extra commerce.
Actually, both Democracy and Republic get commerce bonus.
I should have explained better. I meant commerce from less corruption. Doesn't make enough of a difference to warrant the switch.
I see. Sorry, my bad.
I agree. I've tested this actually, and the extra income from lesser corruption usually goes to pay for units. In Republic, your income is only slightly lower due to a little bit more corruption, but you don't have to pay as much for unit upkeep.
